Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 440 votes
Considered by many to be one of the most desirable and sought-after coachwork designs to grace the Phantom III chassis. being elegant. stylish and very well proportioned. this car is one to be coveted and cared for. Having said that. the car is cosmetically in a condition to be used and enjoyed. being very smart. but not concours. Comes with an impressive fitted toolkit. twin side-mounted spare wheels. long trumpet horns. etc. and many desirable Art Deco touches. A delightful car. nicely finished in black and dark blue. with appealing red leather interior.

Chassis No. 3BU162. Reg No. 763 YUD. £135. 00.

Snippets: Diamond Car

Delivered to Mrs Millicent Ella Hesketh-Wright at her residence of Aldford House in Park Lane. Just 4 months later on the 13th November 1937 she was the victim of armed robbery by 3 masked men who stole jewellery worth some £20. 00. The investigating office – Chief Inspector Arthur Thorp later devoted a whole chapter of his book “Calling Scotland Yard” to this robbery detailing the eventual capture of the thieves. A copy of the book will be included with the car for her new owner! Aldford House (not the existing apartment block) had been designed by Balfour & Turner in 1897 for Alfred Beit. a South African diamond magnate who in 1899 was described as being worth some £200million!! Nr 25 Parklane. was owned by Barney Barnato who although he started construction of his mansion in 1895 he did not live to see it completed. For some unknown reason Mrs HW sold 3BU162 only 4 months after buying the car to F. Nield & Son of Gatley. After WWII he part exchanged 3BU162 for a Bentley 4 ¼ Park Ward Saloon (B60KT). From 1975 onwards the car became well travelled. living in Hong Kong. Portugal & USA before returning to the UK.
