Ordered by Percy Bilton an entrepreneur who in the 1920s & 30s started a small construction firm which specialised in Prefab Homes & grew to become one of the largest construction & property firms in the UK. The 1960s was a time of great expansion for Percy with his company being involved in construction in South Africa. Canada. Europe & the USA; during this period Biltons purchased Meaford Hall in Staffordshire which they used as their headquarters for some 25 years. This 17th Century Grade II property was the birth place of Admiral John Jervis (1735/1823) who is best known for his role in the defeat of the Spanish at the Battle of Cape St Vincent. Portugal in 1797. Admiral Jervis died without an heir & the title & estate was inherited by his nephew Edward Jervis. In 1943. after 250 years of occupation by the Jervis family Meaford was sold to the US Airforce prior to the Bilton's purchase. Both Percy's son (Godfrey) & grandson (Anton) have since followed in his footsteps with their own portfolio of properties which includes the magnificent Tyringham Hall.
