Despite common misconception. the Wrangler is not a direct
descendant of the World War II Willys MB or Willys civilian. later
produced by Kaiser-Jeep and by American Motors (AMC) and as
illustrated by the factory dash plaques affixed to the last Jeeps
produced. that read 'Last of a Great Breed - This collector's
edition CJ ends an era that began with the legendary Jeep of World
War II'. Outwardly resembling the Jeep CJ-7. the Wrangler. which
was formally announced on May 13. 1986. was based on a new set of
design parameters. 'The product philosophy behind the two
vehicles is completely different. ' Francios Castaing (AMC VP
of Product Engineering) explained. Just like the Willys MB. br/>Wranglers continue to use a separate body and frame. rigid live
axles both front and rear. a fold-flat windshield and can be driven
without doors. But its suspension. drivetrain and interior were
borrowed from the new Cherokee (XJ) model. The Wrangler debuted in
1986 as a new model to fill the void left by the discontinuance of
the famous Jeep CJ; it was revised in 1996. and completely
redesigned in 2007. In addition to the model name Wrangler. each
model received a designation corresponding to its generation: YJ
(1987-1995). TJ (1997-2006).

This 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ was imported to the UK in 2002 as a
standard Jeep and then turned into 'The Beast' for Powerbeck Sports
Ltd. a sports nutrition company based in the UK. This was
done by using a Skylifter body lift kit which allowed the use of
46" tyres. Power is supplied by the standard four litre engine
through an automatic gearbox which has had an oil cooler fitted. br/>the rear axle has been geared for the larger wheels. Finished in
black with custom paintwork and extra chrome. the interior is in
standard finished of tan and green. This unique truck is supplied
with a V5C registration document. an MoT test certificate which
expires in September 2015 and old MoT certificates which show that
it has only covered 2. 00 miles in the last seven years.
