Mercedes-Benz : 400-Series SEL

Beautiful original 1978 450 SEL with 42. 00 original miles. ( 70. 00 KM ) . This is one of the most beautiful and cleanest original cars I have ever seen. EVER!!! They are only original once. as they say and this car is a true example of that. If you know these cars then you know how amazing they are to drive with the Mercedes advanced hydraulic suspension. This one is the best I have ever driven. it sits down properly when shifted into drive. returns to level when shifted into park and sits up high when shifted into reverse. The original paint finish on the car is spectacular with a shine better than the day it was new. all chrome and stainless are near perfect. certainly the best you will find. The original interior on this 450 is absolutely beautiful and needs nothing. The wood has an amazing finish. the carpets are clean. unsoiled. soft and fresh as new. the leather is near perfect. headliner mint. dash unmarked. door panels flawless and all chrome trim impeccable. The color combination of this car is what sets it apart from other similar 450s. the silver blue finish with parchment is beautiful. I just sold a burgundy red with parchment interior that I owned in Palm Desert and as striking as it was this one is even prettier. I will include a photo of the red one and the new owner is ecstatic. This 450 has all the options. cruise. working cold AC. real leather. original coco mats. heater seats. YES. heated seats in a 78'. Michelin tires. rear head rests AM/FM cassette with power antenna. power windows and a perfectly working power sunroof that doesn't leak. The central locking system operates perfectly including the truck lock and the original unused spare tire remains untouched. The car starts first crank. and fast idle works just like it should then settles down as it comes to operating temp. The exhaust. tires. brakes. and suspension are 100%. There a no leaks anywhere.  After a full mechanical inspection the only part that needed to be replaced was a slightly tired hanger bearing rubber so it was replaced with an original Mercedes part. The under carriage of this car is totally rust free and clean as it was originally. All the bumper rubbers and stainless are in beautiful condition and all fit properly as well. This 450 drives like a dream and has all the power it did when the day it was made. Truly a beautiful example of the 450 SEL and priced accordingly. I also own a beautiful 280 SL and a very rare 600 Pullman so I know these vintage Mercedes very well. and this one is sweet.
