The first owner was the Honorable Dorothy Padget. an eccentric horse breeding millionairess who was also prevailed upon to finance the Bentley blower team for Le Mans in the late 1920's. She slept all day. stayed up all night & was in the habit of taking Breakfast at 8:30pm.

En route to a race meeting her Rolls Royce failed to proceed so she purchased the local butchers van on the spot in order to continue her journey. Subsequently she purchased a second Rolls to follow the first
& forestall a repeat of the unfortunate situation. Thus when a pair of Phantoms arrived at a race course people would know Dorothy Padget had arrived.

The quintessential definitive form of a continental. This car is of museum quality & boasts all the desirable features one looks for in such a car; rakish Barker coachwork. twin rear mounted spares. a Hooper patent sunroof etc etc.

The car underwent a major mechanical & cosmetic restoration some years ago by marque specialist Mark Taylor of Birdham. Since then it has also had a further £30. 00 spent on a new head & upgrades to the suspension. The car is thus in superb order & is currently being serviced by ourselves prior to sale. The Service includes fluid change. resetting the clutch brake. adjusting the brake shoes. doing the tappets & putting the timing back to factory settings.

The car is finished in a pale coffee colour scheme with dark coffee accents including a beautiful japanned leather roof covering all of which are in tip top condition. The Hooper patent sunroof fitted is in super working order. Ingenious in the extreme it is a delight to operate; After undoing two latches & raising the roof sides by means of two levers. one grasps a pair of handles & the ensemble tilts upwards & backwards whilst a spring loaded roller furls the roof fabric as one moves it rearwards. br/>
The car is absolutely complete & comes with all its original accessories. All large tools are under the bonnet in their appointed places as is a brass Lucas lamp bulb holder. All small tools are in a custom tray to the rear folding out in front of the spare wheels. Twin horns are fitted under the bonnet. The car has been correctly re-wired with colour coded linen covered wires & are period correct down to the original Rolls Royce numbering collars.

To the interior is sumptuous deep chestnut leather in perfect condition with matching Wilton carpets. Woodwork is superb with quarter sawn book matched door tops in what looks to be Sapele. The drivers side is equipped with a fast up/down window lever. Barker Patent dipping head lamps are of course fitted also. Front & rear period cigar lighters are extant & still in working order. Summer ventilation is afforded by the louvers extending to the scuttle where they may be opened allowing for ingress of fresh air.

All in all a fantastic car of collectors grade which needs nothing more than an enthusiastic new owner to drive it regularly. This is one of the prettiest continentals I have seen & a rock solid investment.

The engine is in perfect order. It starts instantly & runs in silence. After leaving it for an hour or so while lunching. it will upon your return leap into life simply by putting on the ignition & quickly retarding the timing by use of the retard lever. The car runs in modern traffic with no difficulty & causes consternation among lesser road users who see it approaching at speed in their rear view mirrors.
