1962 Triumph TR4 Historic Rally Car for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.15) based on 409 votes
If you are looking to compete in historic regularity rallies. this 1962 Triumph TR4 would be the perfect machine for the job. It has been thoroughly and professionally prepared. and requires no further preparation or work to start competing. It really is a jump in and go car.
It is an original. UK-market TR4 in its original colour scheme of Signal Red with black trim. as detailed by its Heritage Certificate and original buff logbook. These indicate that the car was dispatched on 25 May 1962 to Laycock Engineering Company. Sheffield. and that it was equipped with an overdrive from new.
Between 2003 and 2005 it was completely stripped and totally rebuilt into a Works rally replica to compete in regularity events by Woodbridge Classic Cars of Suffolk. The chassis was strengthened and galvanized. cooling ducts fitted to the body. The suspension has been uprated and the brakes have been uprated to larger. Jaguar sourced items. There is a alloy sumpguard to protect the underbody. The engine was fully rebuilt at the time of restoration. It has a large-bore competition exhaust. alternator conversion. alloy radiator and electric fan. The wheels are 15-inch Minilite style alloys with new Toyo Proxes CF1 tyres.
The body is superb with perfect panel gaps and all the right period rally addenda including working spot lamps. It wears a genuine Surrey Top concealing a half (rear) roll cage. period bucket seats with harnesses. rally tripmeter and dash-mounted stopwatches. There's a fire extinguisher and the usual battery cut-off switch.
The car is FIVA eligible and was registered with the FIVA upon its completion. We have the FIVA papers detailing the car's specification although those papers (10 year validity) have just expired and will need reapplying for.
Recently. the car has had over £3k spent on it to prepare it for forthcoming events. That included new carburetors. distributor. alternator. electronic ignition. a rolling road tune and improvements to the exhaust suspension and brakes.
Whilst the car is fully prepared for competitive events. it is also equally happy driving to the pub on a summer's evening. or blowing the cobwebs away on a Sunday morning. It's a lot of fun to have a classic that allows you to use it as a road car. but also to thrash over the Alps in a competitive event.
When you consider what it would cost to buy a good TR4 and professionally prepare it to this standard this car represents very good value for money with none of the hassle involved in building your own.
