The Jaguar XK120 was manufactured between 1948 and 1954 and was
Jaguar's first sports car since the SS100 which ceased production
in 1940. The XK120 was launched in roadster form at the 1948 London
Motor Show as a show car for the new Jaguar XK engine. It caused a
sensation thus persuading Jaguar founder and design boss William
Lyons to put the car into production. The '120' in its name
referred to its 120mph top speed which made the XK120 the world's
fastest standard production car at the time of its launch. It was
available in two open versions; first as the roadster then also as
a drophead coupé from 1953 and also as a closed. or 'fixedhead'
coupé from 1951. With an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draft SU
carburettors. the double overhead-cam 3. 4 litre straight six XK
engine was comparatively advanced for a mass-produced unit of the
time. This same basic design of the XK engine. later modified into
3. 8 litre and 4. 2 litre versions. survived into the late 1980s.

This extremely desirable and original SE. presented in red with
burgundy leather trim comes complete with increased power. stiffer
suspension and dual exhaust system. Mechanically this motor car is
very sound with no signs of corrosion to the body or chassis and
with a great looking interior including new carpets with the only
signs of wear to the paintwork; however. Also offered with the car
is a tonneau cover. the full hood mechanism is in very good order
but the original hood would require replacing should the new owner
require one . as well as side screens.

Originally a southern state car from the U. S. it is believed
that this was a one owner car owned by Mr Rogers of Walnut Creek. br/>California right up to its repatriation in 2014. this has been
ascertained from original letters to the owner. log books and US
titles within the history file. It has been registered and
allocated a V5 registration form along with a Jaguar Heritage
certificate. The present owner has ensured that the car is in good
running condition with works completed including brakes. new fuel
tank. new water pump. hoses. new fuel pump and lines rendering this
an attractive and useable classic XK with just 61. 00 miles covered
and offered at a very enticing estimate.
