Since its introduction in 1963. the 911 has undergone continual
development although the basic concept has remained little changed.
In 1973. the Carrera name was re-introduced from the 356 Carrera
which had itself been named after Porsche's class victories in the
Carrera Panamericana races in Mexico in the 1950's. The RS was
built so that Porsche could enter racing formulae which demanded
that a certain minimum number of production cars were made. The
most notable advances in 1984 were the introduction of the
3. 2-litre engine. With 231bhp on tap. the new 'boxer' motor endowed
the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the
original 911 Turbo of 1974; the bald statistics being a 0-60mph
time of 5. 3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph. The 3. 2 Carrera. br/>produced from 1984 to 1989. is regarded by many as the best of the
air-cooled models thanks to its blend of classic good looks. br/>scintillating performance and relatively low cost of ownership -
all subsequent models being more complex machines that need deeper
pockets to maintain.

Registered in September 1985. this delightful Carrera
convertible is finished in Glacier Blue with orange decals
(reminiscent of the famous Gulf colours). The coachwork is in very
good order as is the blue leather trim and the hood is virtually
new. The previous keeper had owned B432 BPP for some 20 years and
clearly took a great deal of pride in owning such an iconic
vehicle. The engine. mated to a five-speed 915 gearbox. appears to
be in very good condition with no adverse noise and more
importantly. shows no sign of any oil leaks having been rebuilt a
number of years ago. Supplied with a good history file going back
to the early 1990's. V5 registration document and a current MoT
test certificate. this well-sorted convertible is ready to enjoy
immediately. Air-cooled 911 prices have been increasing very
rapidly of late; this Carrera convertible is not only one for the
purists and collectors but one for the drivers.
