We are delighted to offer this right hand drive (rhd) 1979
example of the Maserati Khamsin. a high performance. front engined. br/>2+2 model with an unmistakable likeness to the Bora. First shown in
prototype form at the Turin Motor Show in 1972. production did not
begin until 1974 until the final car in 1982. Designed by Marcello
Gandini it was Bertone's first work for Maserati.

This Maserati was first supplied to UK Maserati Concessionaires. br/>The Italian Car Centre. London. in 1979 and has subsequently had
only four owners. including the vendor who purchased the car in
June 2007. The history file shows invoices of works from 1989 to
date; amongst these invoices is evidence of a bare metal respray in
March 1989. Soon after the current owner purchased the Khamsin in
June 2007. a comprehensive inspection of the car was undertaken by
the well known and respected Maserati specialist 'Bill McGrath'.
Works were then carried out to bring the car up to the standard and
in all totalled in excess of £8300. In addition to regular fluid
changes. recent works have required a re-cored radiator and new
tailgate rams.

At the heart of this exhilarating motor car. is the Maserati 4. 9
litre V8 engine fuelled via the four Weber 42/DCNF41 carburettors
with drive transmitted via the five speed ZF manual gearbox. The
Khamsin incorporates Citroën high pressure hydraulics supplying
speed controlled power steering and power brakes; interestingly. br/>the driver's seat is also hydraulically powered. On a recent test. br/>the Maserati started easily and soon warmed up displaying good oil
pressure. On the road the car was docile at slow speeds with
instant and direct response from the power steering. however; on
releasing this motor car it is apparent that the mid range power is
impressive and in all gives a thrilling ride if driven with verve.
All of the gauges work. including the clock. Other luxuries
include; electric windows and air conditioning.

The coachwork looks attractive in its blue metallic finish. br/>however. it must be noted that there are some areas of
micro-blistering; only noticeable on close inspection. The
important detail to note is that the panel gaps are excellent
demonstrating that this is a strong car structurally. Complimented
with a cream leather interior and a well detailed engine bay. this
handsome Khamsin is one of only 430 manufactured. Only 23 of the 71
rhd examples were destined for the UK market making this a rare
example indeed.
