What a fabulous survivor with a superb provenance.

This TR4 arrived on the second boat load of the new Triumph sports model exported to America. It was delivered to the showrooms of Kramer Motors 1717 Santa Monica Boulevard in February 1962. On the 17/02/1962 Mr D. RAY snr picked his new car up. At the time Mr Ray was living in California. This was his second car which was only used for weekend fun and holidays. On his retirement he moved to the state of Arizona where the car has spent some further 40 odd years. Arizona is one of the driest States so the condition of the body and chassis are quite amazing for some 52 years. As can be seen by the video. On Mr Rays passing his son set about a modest refurbishment of the TR. He instructed a same colour respray as the old paint had ‘gone flat'. He also had the seats re trimmed in the original colour red with white piping. Also a set of chrome wire wheels to replace the old original wires. although the spare is still the original. Unfortunately due to failing health Mr Ray jnr left the car in his garage for some 20 years. When we found the car in Northern Arizona Mr Ray had decided that he would realistically never drive it again. He was delighted that some “Brits” turned up who had the intention to “take it home” as he said. The car comes with original handbook and workshop manual. Also there are a couple of boxes of other old parts. a tonneau and black hood are also here.
So we have here a 63. 00 mile 1962 TR4. One family owned from new.
This is not a concours Truimph. it is what is now commonly called a survivor. We have undergone some remedial works with car . New bushes etc so the car can be driven safely. The car drives extremely well. the engine and gearbox are very tight. We have replaced the carpet set with new red carpets. in keeping with the originals. This TR can be driven as is and looks very original throughout. Please realise that this car looks outstanding . ut if you wanted to have a concours car on your hands. this could be an ideal start….
