1929 Rolls Royce 20/25 Windovers Sedancalete.

Chassis number: GXO17
Registration number: BF4945

A very rare & unusual coachwork by Windovers. Both the front sedanca portion opens as does the rear landaulette making for a sedancalette. Very rarely do these come onto the market.

This is an utterly original very very early 20/25 coming with its original "Goshawk" plate located on the scuttle. The car was supplied new via Rolls Royce Madrid to Senor Luis Martinez Rivas. He later had the car shipped to the Plaza Hotel where no doubt it shared company with the 20hp car belonging to the Plaza's owner. The car was laid up on blocks for over 40 years until being disinterred by the second owner who re-commissioned it & used it sparingly covering very few miles during his long tenure. Indeed the Ohio Licensing records show the odometer to have been at just 28. 80 miles in 1987 with no additions by 1994.

This is one of those rare untouched cars retaining all its original features down to the cloth rear seat facings etc. The car exhibits no wear at all & has the feeling that the indicated 32. 57 miles as of today is the correct reading. The steering is tight. the ride supple & the car sits well. having had the weight off the springs during its 40 year lay up. A set of Rolls Royce small tools is located under the front seats & the spare bulb holder is in its appointed place in the passenger foot well. The only real deviation from stock is a full re-wire in the correct linen covered cables mated to Ross-Courtney ends.

The front seats are black leather with dark navy cloth to the rear. An occasional seat folds out from one side of the bulkhead & an occasional table from the other; a cocktail cabinet being located between the two. All woodwork is of quarter matched Macassar Ebony. The car when new came with a still extant single rear divers helmet style rear light. This has been augmented with a second lamp for safety reasons. A luggage grid of the folding variety sits on the back. The running boards still have their windovers embossed rubber footplates. br/>
Timbers on the car are absolutely rot free & solid. The door shut with a train carriage door style thunk. The door locks are accessed by opening the hinged handle to reveal the key hole. The car wears its original colour of black making for a very period & vintage feel to the car. Rarely do we get such low mileage & original cars as this in such fine condition. The car is located on the Isle of Anglesey where it may be viewed by prior appointment in the tongue twistingly named village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. (Yes I know. We cold not pronounce it either. ) It is in perfect driving order & needing nothing. having recently taken part in several Gordon Bennet runs.
