For sale by auction on Saturday 29 November 2014 with Historics at Brooklands. Brooklands Motor Racing Circuit. Weybridge. Surrey. Call 01753 639170
The original Elan was introduced in 1962 as a roadster although
an optional hardtop was offered in 1963 and a coupé in 1965. It was
the first Lotus road car to use the now famous steel backbone sub
frame with a fibreglass body. At 1. 00lb. the Elan embodied the
Colin Chapman minimum weight design philosophy. It was
technologically advanced with a twin-cam 1558cc engine. four-wheel
disc brakes and four wheel independent suspensions.

Built by Dean Forward of the Forward racing team. this
beautifully presented Elan is completely race ready apart from the
need for a new inspected race seat ready for HSCC Class C (70's
Roadsports) racing. Offered also are two sets of wheels and tyres. br/>fully adjustable suspension and a valid MoT test certificate valid
until August 2015. Within the history file provided is a breakdown
of the races that both Dean Forward and its second owner Jason
Higginnbottom have taken part in. with some success. indeed it was
1st in Class at Oulton Park and Croft in 2011 along with fastest
lap at both meets and winning overall in the 2011 HSCC 70's Road
Sports Championship before going on to compete at Silverstone and
Croft again in 2012. Present also is a photographic record of the
race build undertaken in 2010 specifically for the HSCC 70'S Sports
Championship however it is also eligible for other race series and
has a HSCC log book.

The engine was built by Twin Cam specialists B&J Race
Engines. Manchester to full race spec with four-speed race gearbox. br/>heavy duty race clutch with concentric slave cylinder. lightened
flywheel. solid driveshafts. Stack instruments. plumbed-in fire
system. foam filled fuel tank. Willens harness. Recaro seat. two
sets of Minilite wheels fitted with excellent Yokohama tyres and
purpose modified lifting jacks. The vendor informs us that the car
is in excellent condition throughout and runs beautifully having
completed only six races from new; at this estimate we think this
is a very attractive proposition and route into Historic motor
racing.

*Available with the car post-auction is a 2013 Brian James A-Max
Trailer in as new condition for an additional £2. 00 payable direct
to the vendor.
