In March 2008. the Jaguar E-Type ranked first in the Daily
Telegraph's list of the '100 most beautiful cars' of all time. It
was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourer in
two-seater coupé form and as convertible. on its release. Enzo
Ferrari called it. ""The most beautiful car ever made"". The model
was made in three distinct versions which are now generally
referred to as 'Series I'. 'Series II' and 'Series III'. The 3. 8
litre engine was increased to 4. 2 litres in October 1964 with a new
5. 3 Litre. 12-cylinder Jaguar V12 engine then introduced with up
rated brakes and power steering as standard for the series III. The
short wheelbase fixedhead coupé body style was discontinued and the
V12 was available only as a convertible and 2+2 coupé. The
convertible used the longer-wheelbase 2+2 floorplan. By far the
most comfortable and most accomplished of the range. these Series
III's were purpose built for long distances and certainly looked
the part as well.

The classic colour combination of red with a contrasting biscuit
leather interior shows off this excellent example of Jaguar's
languorous tourer well. This has been the subject of an extensive
restoration between 2009 and 2011with the body taken back to bare
metal. Whilst the car was in its constituent parts. the brakes were
also upgraded using drilled discs and new chrome wire wheels.
The hood is also replaced in 2012 thanks to Suffolk & Turley
and the entire underside has been treated with Waxoil. There
is also a period Motorola 838 radio fitted (with iPod connectivity)
and electric aerial. Indeed. so detailed are the works
undertaken on KGF 958N that a leather bound 'directory' exists. br/>complete with a photographic history of the restoration as well as
a feature detailed in the E-Type club magazine detailing the
replacement of the timing chain late last year. The total costs of
labour and parts so far has been over £50. 00+ and comes complete
with all handbooks. lubrication charts. invoices and other
associated paperwork. Well sorted. well prepared and with a
fine history. a recent re-conditioned gearbox and MoT test
certificate. this represents an E-Type that is now completely ready
for someone step into and enjoy.
