The 101 Series Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider evolved from the earlier
Pininfarina designed Giulietta Spider; the main change was the
introduction of the larger 1570 cc twin cam power plant over the
Giulietta 1290 cc unit.

This 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia 101 Spider offered today was. br/>according to the Alfa Romeo Owner's Club files. manufactured on the
1st July 1963 and sold on the 20th April 1964 in London UK and has
been in the current ownership for the past 38 years. It was
purchased after the Alfa was discovered within a barn that was
about to be demolished. however. it was saved and thereafter sat in
the owner's garden for many years and used as a playground for the
children. chickens and kittens. In 2011 it was decided that this
Alfa Romeo should be restored and so the restoration began. The
vendor informs us that the body was completely stripped and
amazingly did not require any repairs apart from a replacement boot
lid. The coachwork was refinished in red on the topsides and also
underneath. All major components were stripped. checked. replaced
or refurbished where required; the engine was completely stripped
and overhauled including new pistons and piston liners. Fuel is
supplied to the twin Weber carburettors that. we are informed by
the vendor. were already fitted to the Alfa Romeo on its arrival
into the UK in April 1964. The trim has also been restored and a
new hood fitted. The restoration was completed in 2013 with the
Alfa hardly turning a wheel since. in fact. the vendor states that
he has never driven the Alfa in all the years he's owned it and
believes the mileage to be genuine as it has not accumulated any
mileage in his ownership and judging by the condition of components
during the restoration. A photographic history of the restoration
is recorded on a CD and is included in the sale.

Sadly. all documentation for the Giulia was lost many years ago. br/>however. we are advised that a UK registration document has been
applied for and will either arrive with the car at the sale or be
forwarded to the new owner. Although the original number plates
will be sold with the Giulia. DVLA cannot guarantee that the car
will be re-issued with them and it may be designated with an age
related plate. In addition a recent MoT test certificate
accompanies the Spider as well as a service and parts manual.

A period advertisement quoted "The Giulia Spider has confounded
even the most experienced professional drivers with her ample
generosity in pick up. speed and roadability". What they were
saying was that it drove very well and these little Alfa spiders
still feel modern on today's roads. Few factory right hand drive
examples (or even Ruddspeed right hand drive conversions) survive
today so this must represent an opportunity especially given the
realistic estimate.
