International R185 Fire truck, Chopped, Rat rod, street rod, hot rod, Lead sled

BODY

1954 International Fire truck. Body is solid with no holes or rust except for the two areas photoed on each of the front fenders. Roof is chopped 8". The windsheild is 8" high.  The roof and bed were paint matched to the original paint so it is a close match to the original paint on the rest of the truck. The west coast mirrors were chopped to match the cab. The inside of the cab and the tops of the doors were finished and painted to match the original interior paint. Bed is an International with 10" chopped out of the center to reduce the width and fit between the duellys  

Chassy

1978 Ford F-350 Dually. The front suspension is all stock except for the addition of AIR BAG IT. COM drop I beams and their direct bolt in air bag system. The rear suspension is a CHASSIS ENGINEERING ladder bar with coil over and back halfed with extra heavy panhard bar.  Twenty gallon fuel cell caged in box tubing.

DRIVELINE

1978 Ford 460 ci.   62. 00 mile. New heads. new water pump. new aluminum intake. new 650 Quick fuel.  new Mallory ignition. new AC pump. new headers. C6 automatic with stock converter. LOCAR shifter. All new DANA 60 rear end 4:11 gear. with bearings. seals. brake lining. brake cylinders and drums. Jumbo hub adaptors to accept the 33" 10:00 Hub Pilot wheels. With the 4:11 gear and a 33" tire this thing cruses at 80 on the interstate.

THE REST

The lights. turn signals. 4 ways. brake lights. Air horn. Siren. oor handles all work. There is a new sterio CD player installed at the stock location. The windshield is glass and you get a spair.

WHAT DOESNT WORK

AC unit is new and all there it just needs installed and hooked up. The speedo needs cable made. I just used my GPS for speedo. Gas. volts. oil guages are wired into original guages but we couldnt get then to work so they need replaced with new. nbsp;Door glass has not been made yet but we have all the track. Interior needs carpet and headliner. ipers are bigger than the windshield so we didnt hook them up.  

We built this truck two years ago because it was sitting at the scrap yard next to the crusher and I had the '78 ford so we decided to build another street rod.  Mostly because everyone told me it cant be done. It has been driven all over the county to many different big shows. It is dependable and always a crowd pleaser. At the 2013 Pittsburgh World of Wheels it was one of the select six given a VIP invitation to the Chicago Show and it always gets a trophie . I have been building street rods for thirty years and my family rides in them. this is not a junk rod. It drives as good as any . It seemed as once we started driving this truck we had no time to finish it.
