1960 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL MARK V CONVERTIBLE AACA NATIONAL FIRST PRIZE WINNER

FABULOUS AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) NATIONAL FIRST PRIZE WINNING 1960 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL MARK V CONVERTIBLE

PLEASE NOTE: To present this car in a very comprehensive manner. over 100 images have been provided.   The first 35 will give an excellent general overall look at the car from many vantage points.   The remaining sets of images show all areas of the car in great detail. and are intended for serious buyers.

To see ALL of the images. you MUST place your cursor ON an image - allow plenty of time for all images to download - and then scroll slowly ALL the way to the bottom.

CAUTION:  if you use the scroller to the FAR RIGHT of your screen or the "Click to view image album" feature. you will NOT see all the images.

HISTORY. Ford invested record sums to make the 1958-1960 Lincolns the grandest ever. with features that set their car apart from any other luxury car.   Both Lincolns and their upscale sister Continental Mark Vs featured the largest unit-body construction ever attempted before or since. Additionally. the Continental Mark V models featured an elaborate electrically powered rear breeze-way.

THE MOST ELABORATE SOFT-TOP CONVERTIBLE OF ALL TIME. the rear window breeze-way incorporated on steel-top Continentals would have been impressive enough for most luxury makes.

Lincoln however. made the bold and daring engineering decision to incorporate the electric glass window breeze-way on the convertible as well!

Illustrated at right. it is absolutely fascinating to watch the entire chrome/glass/stainless rear window structure just disappear before your disbelieving eyes as the top is lowered.   Equally impressive. of course. is the appearance of the window structure from deep within the body of the car as the top is raised.   An absolute classic car crowd-pleaser of the highest magnitude!

RECENT APPRAISAL. the car was professionally appraised in October 2014 for $76. 00.

DRAMATIC COLOR COMBINATION. the Presidential Black/Red color combination is bold. yet dignified.   A very classy and rare color combination that looks gorgeous on this Continental.

HIGHLY ORIGINAL:  This is one of those rare cars that was never just a "used car".   It was always pampered and did not require a tear-down restoration.   Thus Lincoln in Wixom. Michigan - not unknown restorers - built the car!  Just as a car is only original once. it is factory-built only once! Increasingly. there is an audience of discerning collectors who prefer excellent and highly original cars vs. totally "disassembled/restored" cars that may (or may not) operate anything like they did originally.

The undercarriage is particularly remarkable. solid throughout.   In addition to undercarriage images. we took pictures of the fender "lip" behind the fender skirts. which revealed like-new sheet metal and the original Wixom plant spot welds.

LOCATION:  The car is located in Alpharetta. Ga. a suburb of Atlanta.

DRIVE REPORT & OPERATIONALS. the engine and transmission are smooth and quiet in their operation. as you'd expect of a Lincoln.   It is an absolutely wonderful cruiser. and no classic I've ever seen draws more admiring glances. most folks seem to have NEVER seen this car at any time in their lives! All exterior and interior lighting was tested and worked.   The electric windows. power seat and the power top are fully operational.   The horn and wipers were tested too and worked fine.

As the images at right show. an auxiliary control lever for the heater was added under the dash. as the original dash control became inoperative.   The push-button brake release/warning light will not release the parking brake. but there is an easy-to-use manual release. The front lighters work. though those in the rear do not (no smoking is allowed anyway!).   The factory AM radio works well. though the power tuning buttons are not functioning.   The power washer has never been filled or tested.

2. 85 TRANSACTIONS WITH HAPPY PEOPLE!  As of the date of this listing. we've had 2. 85 transactions (both buying and selling) on eBay without a single complaint. One of the keys to our selling success is the use of LARGER and MORE images than you will likely see in ANY other eBay listing. so you can CLEARLY see what you are getting.

INVESTMENT POTENTIAL in classic cars of the 1950s/early 1960s remains very strong. especially with the rare and iconic models such as this.   The 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V Convertible well-achieved its goal of distinguishing itself among all other luxury cars. and especially convertibles as NO competitor had anything like the elaborate (and totally concealed) breeze-way top.
