Summary:
This car is an admirable and unmolested survivor that has spent its entire life in central Oklahoma. Extraordinary provenance that includes period maps and receipts for virtually every expense since the 70's. Overall condition is very good for an unrestored car of this age. Drives like a typical full-size 60's car. which means it goes well. stops eventually. corners like a grocery cart and rides like a comfortable sofa. Attracts attention at every stoplight. Overall a comfortable cruiser.
Stored inside for the last 11 years. driven weekly to maintain mechanical condition
Very nice original paint other than body repairs from previous owners (1970's or 1980's vintage)
Original interior in very good condition other than 2 small tears on sides of front bench
Original carpet in great barely faded condition
Padded dash. perfect condition with no cracks
Headliner original and perfect condition
25th Silver Anniversary Model with steering wheel hub insignia
Complete with period-appropriate owner's spares and fluids in trunk (wooden box included)
Factory service manual - poor condition but still usable
Extensive and colorful provenance in the form of service records. registration. insurance. including hotel and gas receipts. packing to-do list. etc. from numerous trips from Oklahoma to Texas coast
Mechanically it could use a continuation of the TLC that we started. The AC works. but loses its charge pretty quickly. so it will need compressor seals and new hoses. Note: most of the components on this car are factory original. as we have almost 30 years worth of receipts for what little work was done to the car. The brakes work well but a complete and thorough going-through would be prudent. The engine starts and runs well. but has a slight hesitation on initial acceleration that is likely a misadjusted carburetor or a carburetor that needs rebuilding. Kits are available. The engine has a very minor oil leak that could be the oil pan or rear seal. It is a small leak. Transmission and rear end operate as new. with no odd noises or vibration. The tires are all good. modern era radials but are of an age where replacement would be prudent. The radio works. all lights work. the manual windows all roll up and down properly. the weatherstrips are all in pretty good shape except for the the trunk seal which is hard and cracked but still complete and in position. The power rear window. the real reason to own this car. operates perfectly.
Overall. this is a great car car for someone who wants to show it at local shows or runs and likes to tinker without having to tackle major overhaul or restoration projects. It is much more than a presentable specimen. particularly for a documented survivor. The Palomino and Polar White two-tone paint is period-perfect. especially for the south central US region.
