 1959 Volvo PV544 Sport

Up for auction is my Rare late 50s Volvo PV544 Sport. Its a california Import so is in fantastically solid condition. Being a
sport. it has the B1b engine with twin SU carbs and put out 85 hp when new.
Car is taxed till november 2013 and is MOT exempt. It is UK registered and i have the current V5 in my name.
The engine runs sweet and there is no evidence of wear or noise.

Bodywork
The car has original floors. jacking points. chassis legs. sills. a posts. bulkhead and all of them are really solid. Car has original everything except a n/s rear wing which has been replaced and an offside door (all solid).   The bodywork to walk round has a couple small scrapes  but has a lot of character and patina that it wears well.
The front wings could do to be beaten out or filled but are solid and the rest of the car is really good bar hole along a seam in a rear quarter that has easy access from both sides so would be easy repair. The spare wheel well in the boot is holed (must have held water for a while)  Also the boot lid edges could do with attention. but otherwise the car is rock solid and better than you could imagine for a 54 year old car.
The interior is in decent enough condition. the rear bench is mint. the front seats have some stitching missing but the material is decent. the dash and pad are good and all the switches. lights. dimmers. fan. radio all work etc.

The car drives well and all the drivetrain is in great running order. the car has bilstein shock absorbers. rear axle is quiet and the 4 speed gearbox is smooth and feels good. Steering feels light and is really quite responsive with no play at all.   The car has just had rear wheel cylinders and new shoes all round so pulls up well too. Clutch has plenty grip. Tyres are decent enough. Carbs have been rebuilt with new seals and floats. and now have their original filters back on. Fresh engine oil. Water pump is new. all new hoses. and steel braided fuel lines. I have back plates and caliper brackets from an amazon so now a period front disc brake setup can be fitted if you wish.

The car is 54 years old. although feels quite advanced for its time. drives like a late 60s car and handles really well. These 544s were quite successful rally cars in the early 60s. A PV544 won the 1964 RAC Rally. also hannu Mikola starting his career in them.
Reason for sale is i bought the car to hotrod. but seeing as its such good condition and completely original. it seems a shame to take it to bits.   This is a seriously rare car in the UK as most sold elsewhere. Parts support is fantastic. i haven't found one bit that cannot still be bought for the car. as over half a million were sold and volvo made parts for a further 12 years. and now other companies keep up the product support.
Car is collection only from Ettrick TD7 and any questions ask through ebay

2 videos of underneath the car to show how solid it is.

I can get this car delivered down south for a very reasonable cost. Its a good honest car. so please no timewasters. chancers or any other loons. Ive already got another car to hotrod so not interested in part ex's or trades etc.
