1969 Volvo 1800S Rare Opportunity

The Volvo 1800 sports coupe was designed by Pelle Petterson in 1957 while he worked at Frua. In 1961 the car went into production at the Jensen Plant in England. In 1963 production was moved to Sweden and the subsequent cars were badged as 1800S (the S for Sweden).

The car was based on the Volvo 122S Sedan using the reliable four cylinder pushrod engine. In 1969 the new 2 liter B20B engine was fitted giving 118hp. The ’69 we are selling has been modified with the removal of the twin SU Carbs and the installation of a two barrel Weber for a slight increase in power and improved driveability.

Volvos are known for their durability. A ’66 1800S holds the Guinness record for the highest mileage having covered just under 3 million miles in July 2012 and is still going.

The car offered is in very good condition. It has been repainted and reupholstered in the past. The most noteworthy item on the car is the working air conditioner. These cars seldom come to market.
