1968 Mini Mk2 - completely rebuilt

1968 Mk2 Mini that has been subject to a 3 year long restoration with many hundreds of hours spent.

I bought this little Mini in autumn 2009 as I wanted a good solid Mk2 to play with. The bug then took hold of me and I decided to "do her up a bit". However. "a bit" turned into a body off nut & bolt restoration that started in December 2009 and has only just been finished. A previous owner had already put a 1275cc engine in but this was not enough for me. so here is a list of what has been done to make for one very special little Mini:

1275cc bored out to 1345cc

Piper 285 Cam

Vernier timing gear

Offset rocker bushes

Lightened BNB40 crank

Hepolite pistons

Total seal rings

Polished/ported inlet manifold

Stage 3 head

Steel distributor drive

Rebuilt 1275 gearbox

Standard 1275 clutch

LCB 1. 75" bore exhaust

K&N air filter

Metro Turbo carbs

New subframe. bushes. mountings etc.

Alloy 4 pot brake conversion (7. 9" vented) with Mintex pads and braided hoses

New adjustable Gaz shocks front and rear

New heater matrix

 Now for the body and trim:

New bonnet. door skins. window rubbers. runners etc

New rear quarter panel

Stainless steel bumpers. overriders and 4 spotlights

4 Minilite 13" typewheels with brand new tyres

Black Forza seats with 4 point Luke harnesses and matching rear seat trim

Full custom roll cage

New dials including 130 mph speedo

New carpets and trim

Motl Lita steering wheel

Extended wheel arches

Bare metal respray in Peugeot Electra blue with white roof and target graphic.

This has been a massive labour of love and I have receipts totalling over £13. 00 - far more than I ever intended to spend but now she needs to go as I have a Rover Vitesse to start on. I know I won't get my money back but I will not let her go for a song.

The car is subject to free road tax and has an MOT to Oct 2013 with no advisories. This is basically a new 1968 Mini that is still only being run in so bid now for a truly fabulous little classic. All of the work was done professionally by Euphoria Racing who are famous for their work on Top Gear and this little car will make a great fast road/track car. I have not dyno'd her but am assured that she will produce over 100bhp but cannot prove it as I will not currently take her over 4. 00 rpm until I have done 500 miles (currently only 350).

The only downsides that I can think of are the cover is missing from the interior light and the paint on 2 bits of the roll cage has reacted and is not great. Also the doors are not an inch perfect fit at the bottom no matter how many attempts we have had to get them perfect.

I appreciate that this is a rather long advert but I have done so much to her that I want to get this across and really want her to go to a Mini enthusiast who will spend more time in her than I can.

She has also had most of the floorpan replaced. the whole underside is immaculate and has been liberally coated in waxoyl. There is no rust on this car at all !!!

Also. due to the racing seats. access to the back is limited but there is a full seat in there.

Please no stupid offers or requests to ship her to Africa for your rich country-owning cousin/brother etc as I have zero interest. I will only take cash on delivery or a cleared bank transfer after a deposit.

I may be interested in a swap under eBay rules ( I buy yours and you buy mine) but would really only consider an interesting classic. Lotus Elise. BMW Mini or L322 Range Rover but feel free to ask - the worst I can do is say no. The reserve has been lowered significantly from last time.
