The Alvis marque was launched shortly after the end of the Great
War. offering a lively. light car in the 1500cc class. The more
discerning motorist was targeted who placed quality and
satisfaction before price. The first three side-valve-engined
models lived up to that promise but it was the engine redesign in
1923 to feature overhead valves that created the famous 12/50
model; an all-time classic. It evolved through various subtypes and
the company was ambitious enough not only to launch a successful
six-cylinder model in 1927 of largely similar design and
dimensions. but also introduced a supercharged front-wheel drive
production model. directly developed from the firm's innovative
racing cars.

Having been purchased as a running motorcar in 1974. this 12/50
TJ underwent a full chassis-up restoration in 1976 by the current
vendor and having only covered 6. 00 miles since that restoration. br/>the car is in splendid order throughout. Offered in blue with
contrasting black wings. this Cross and Ellis coach-built tourer is
currently considered part of the family to such an extent that it
has taken two of the current custodians daughters to the church on
their wedding day and has transported the vendor and his friends to
Le Mans in 1998 cruising comfortably at 60mph all the way!

Described by the vendor as a very reliable and beautiful machine
for which he believes. having restored the car many years back. is
both structurally and mechanically in great order for any new
owner. he will be sad to see her go. Within the history file. an
original Buff Logbook can be found alongside numerous past MoT test
certificates. bills. an original spare parts catalogue. copy of The
Vintage Alvis by Peter Hull and Norman Johnson and an extensive
printed and very helpful Vintage Alvis Manual which we are sure
will come in handy for any future owner

Offered at a very competitive estimate and in such good order. br/>we believe this represents fantastic value for such an iconic
vintage tourer.
