Triumph : Other 2 door convertible

     Up for sale today is one of our customers' historic cars: a Triumph TR4.   Originally sold and titled in 1965. this car was actually built in 1964.   The current owner purchased the TR4 in May of 2009.   Although we do not have much history prior to his purchase date. we know that one of the two previous owners had it repainted white from its original red color.   The interior work was also done around that time. possibly the late 1990s or mid 2000s.  
    Since put into our care. the car has received much attention including: a rebuilt front suspension. new wheels. a GM alternator conversion together with a negative ground conversion.   The carburetors were rebuilt in 2011 as well as a new starter. a new water pump and an auxiliary cooling fan.   Clutch hydraulics and a new brake master cylinder were done recently too.   Along with regular servicing. we installed a spin-on oil filter conversion.    The owner enjoyed driving this car regularly and insisted that all servicing and maintenance work was kept up to date.
    The TR4 has a fairly new "Retro Sound" radio and a relatively new white tonneau cover.   Cosmetically speaking. the car is in good condition.   The paint shines up beautifully although there are some chips. minor scratches and few small dents throughout.   The front and rear bumpers in addition to most of the external trim appear to be original to the car.   It is reasonably straight in terms of body lines and completely rust-free with no evidence of any crash damage.   While no real deterioration is evident. some of the chrome does show its age.  
    Fortunately for the new driver(s)/owner(s). when speaking of the interior. we find its condition to be very nice.   It is black with re-conditioned vinyl seats. new carpeting and panels.   We recommend that the wood dash be replaced to finish off the interior.   The car also needs to have the original tachometer repaired and the steering wheel is actually from a TR6.
    This car drives extremely well.   The engine idles smoothly and has a great exhaust note.   Oil pressure is strong but the engine does leak a little bit.   It maintains good coolant temperature.   The clutch is easy. smooth to operate as is the 4 speed manual transmission.  
    Current prices for Triumph TR4s are wide ranging.   Running. driving examples like this one are getting somewhat scarce as we have found few cars available for comparison.   Considering the overall condition of this car. we feel that we are offering it at a very fair price.   It is well below the average value considered by some of the price guide reports.
