We are offering this nice: NO RESERVE! LOW MILEAGE. ORIGINAL CONDITION 1988 MERCEDES BENZ 560 SL ROADSTER. I have owned this car for over 4 years and every time I drove it I would have a smile on my face. especially when the hardtop was off and the roof was down. I have put a stupid amount of money into this car and I no longer feel I can keep up with it so I am willing to sacrifice it to someone who can treat it the way it deserves to be treated. It is a very nice looking car but it can use some help. I can drive the car as it is but when it gets warm you have to find the sweet spot in the accelerator to get going. I do not have a mechanic that specializes in older German vehicles and that is what this car will need. The mechanic I use told me that the car has an air leak somewhere under the fuel injection and a talented import mechanic should be able to fix it easily. Please do not ask me about the mechanics of this car because I will not be able to answer your questions. This car has power windows. door locks. ICE COLD air conditioning. AM-FM stereo with Cassette and power antennae. power passenger side mirror. cruise control and more. The 5. 6 Litre V-8 starts right up idles fine and sounds great and is mated to a smooth shifting 4 speed automatic transmission. This car goes down the road nice and straight and it handles fine. The Anti-lock equipped brakes stop this vehicle quickly. safely and in a straight line. The red paint is clean and shiny but it is getting thin and some of the clearcoat is coming off in spots. The body is in great shape especially considering the age of this car. The brown cloth convertible top will eventually need to be replaced. it is usable as it is but it does have a couple of semi repaired holes. The interior is in amazing shape as you can see by the pictures and videos. The tires are in decent shape and are mounted on the original MB factory aluminum alloy wheels. For the right collector or restorer this is a great car for you to have or if you just want an inexpensive import roadster to have fun with I say go for it!

A non-refundable $500. 00 deposit is required via PayPal as soon as you win the auction and absolutely within 24 Hours of the auction ending. unless other arrangements have been made. We only accept PayPal for the initial deposit. the balance due must be paid in CASH or by ELECTRONIC WIRE TRANSFER. Despite what anything else may say we do NOT accept cashiers' checks. money orders. or any other type of so called "Certified" funds. Who Can Bid?

We welcome all registered eBay bidders to participate in our auctions as long as they have a PayPal account. While many sellers will not sell to International bidders. we do! We have completed many International transactions all over the world! Please be advised however that International bidders will have to arrange their own shipment of the vehicle out of the country. We will help when we can. but it is your responsibility to handle all export matters.

 

What if I have any questions?

If you have any questions regarding one of our vehicle auctions please send us a message through eBay email or call us at 908-441-2162. We are not open 24 hours a day. so if we do not answer please leave us a message. We check our answering machine and eBay messages regularly and attempt to answer all messages within a couple of hours after receiving them.

 

What should I expect when buying a used vehicle?

This is a reminder to ALL bidders that these are USED vehicles. many of them older and with significant mileage on them. they are not NEW cars! Please expect a certain amount of wear. use. and flaws as is expected from ANY used vehicle. All used vehicles including this one may have dings. dents. nicks. scratches. chips. fading. paintwork. accident history. rust. wheel or rim imperfections. or any other issues that are associated with use that is consistent with age and mileage of the vehicle. Obviously a vehicle that is 10 years old will show more wear and tear and have more flaws than one that is 2 years old. Please remember that owner’s manuals. extra keys. keyless remotes. navigation discs. CD cartridges etc. do not always remain with the vehicle throughout its life. and we are not responsible for these minor items. These items are readily available on eBay. the internet. electronic store or at your local factory dealer!

 

How about the vehicle history report or maintenance records?

There are services available to you such as Carfax and Autocheck; we do not have a subscription to any of these services and therefore do not provide these reports. but we include the VIN in all of our listings and you may purchase these reports if you wish but please remember that many of these reports are inaccurate and have their limitations. They are an information service only; they have never seen the vehicle. owned the vehicle or driven it and have no other information about the vehicle than what has been reported from different agencies. All of this information is originally hand entered into their databases at their source and mistakes and inconsistencies do and will occur! Many times they contain mileage errors. amount of owner’s errors and other things that seem to make little sense but just like any other computer generated reports you need to know how to read between the lines. If you have trouble understanding any of these reports. give us a call and we will use our experience to help decipher them for you. We do not have any maintenance records other than what is provided to us by the previous owner. and usually we do not get any records at all. The only way to get complete maintenance records is to know where the vehicle has been serviced its entire life and that is usually impossible.

 

Can you explain your “AS-IS” Warranty policy?

All of our vehicles are sold completely “AS-IS” with no warranties expressed or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for correctness of description. authenticity. genuineness. or defects herein. and makes no warranty in connection therewith. Any and all descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. Your bid is binding under applicable statute. The buyer assumes all responsibility for all defects known and unknown. The seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs. defects or damages pre-existing or otherwise regardless of any oral or written statements about the vehicle. The buyer has no “Right of rescission” and is not entitled to any compensation for known or unknown. disclosed or undisclosed damage or repairs. Do n0t bid if you are not prepared to conclude your purchase. All information and comments contained within the vehicle listings are deemed reliable. but they are not guaranteed. We try very hard to make sure they are as accurate as possible. If an option or feature is not listed in the ad or you do not see it in the pictures or video. then most likely the vehicle does not have that option or feature. Take our video as a presentation only; it is supposed to serve as an informative look at the vehicle since most of our buyers are not capable or will choose not to come and see the vehicle prior to bidding. We want you to be happy with your purchase but you must understand what “AS-IS” means. It means sold without a warranty of any kind- NO exceptions! Most of our vehicles are sold at wholesale prices and many are way below book value or the price you may see it for sale on a retail used vehicle lot. often times thousands of dollars less! We work on a very thin margin with minimum profit and as such we cannot afford to warranty the vehicle as if you purchased it at a retail lot for full LIST price. Remember many of these cars are over a decade old. and many have in excess of 100. 00 miles so they may be new to you but that does not change the fact that they are used and repairs may be needed at any time regardless of how short a time you have owned the car. We try to service any known defects but it is still possible for a used vehicle to need service or repairs within the first days or weeks of ownership. All our vehicles are used machines and used machines need general repairs on a regular basis. many times without prior warning. Also repairs are more common on a 10 year old vehicle than on a 2 or 3 year old vehicle but the 10 year old vehicle will cost you significantly less than a much newer vehicle. and you should be prepared for this. Obviously the older the vehicle and the higher the mileage the more chance the vehicle has of needing maintenance and repairs. What we are trying to say is basically common sense. but many people do not understand this so we have spelled it out for you in plain English.

 

Can I test drive and/or inspect he vehicle?

YES! We highly encourage all of our bidders to come look at. inspect. and test drive the vehicle they are interested in BEFORE they place a bid and before the auction ends! There are services available that will perform an inspection for you. at your cost. Prospective bidders are always welcome to come and view or arrange an onsite inspection of the vehicle they are interested in BEFORE the close of the auction. Once an auction has ended the vehicle is considered SOLD and we do not permit post sale inspections of any sort at that point.

 

Will you end the auction early?

We reserve the right to end any auction early for any reason we deem necessary. All of our vehicles are for sale locally at our dealership and we reserve the right to sell vehicles that are listed. Occasionally. but rarely we have to end an auction early because we made an error in the listing. Also. any bid retractions within the last half of the remainder of the auction are subject to be ended at our discretion. We further reserve the right to refuse the sale of any vehicle to any bidder or buyer at our discretion should we deem it necessary.

 

How do I pay for the vehicle?

The balance of the purchase price MUST be paid for with cash in person upon pickup of the vehicle. If you are having the vehicle shipped or are concerned about carrying a large amount of cash the only other option is a bank to bank wire transfer. but this must be approved ahead of time. Please do not come here expecting to pay using any other means than those listed above. Under very limited circumstances we may accept a credit card but this has to be approved ahead of time and will incur additional fees. call us for more details. We try very hard to make the delivery process go smooth and quick so please let us know upfront if you have any special needs so we may accommodate you. If you arrive to pick up your vehicle and do not have an acceptable form of payment you will be denied delivery of the vehicle. This means you will go home without the vehicle or you will have to stay in New Jersey until you can get the balance of the money in an acceptable form. Please do not allow this to happen to you. follow our simple rules for payment to ensure a smooth delivery of your vehicle. These are the only forms of payment that we accept. so if they are not acceptable to you then please do n0t bid. Final payment is due within 7 days of the auction close. There are no refunds or cancellations once payment has been made as all sales are final on all auction related transactions.

 

What about the deposit?

We require that a $500 deposit be made to secure the transaction as soon as possible after you are the winning bidder. and not to exceed 24 hours from when the auction ends. This means if you win the auction and it ends at 2PM the $500 deposit is due immediately but certainly no later than 2PM of the following day! The deposit is to be made via PayPal ONLY! Should the buyer fail to make the deposit within the 24 hour period or call to make other arrangements we reserve the right to cancel the transaction. If the buyer pays the deposit. but does not complete the transaction for any reason. then the dep0sit is not refundable and becomes the property of Highlands Auto Exchange.

 

Are there any additional fees?

We charge a non-negotiable $149. 00 documentation/ processing fee. This covers our paperwork. fees. listing. mailing and titling costs. Dealers are NOT exempt from this fee. NO exceptions. We are required to collect appropriate sales tax from New Jersey residents. We do offer an optional temporary transit tag for a nominal fee. Call us for details.

 

Do you take Trade-Ins?

We do not accept trade-ins on our auction vehicles due to the limitations of the auction process.

 

How about shipping?

We do NOT arrange for shipping on any of our vehicles. Vehicle shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer of the vehicle. You can have any shipper you choose come to our location to pick the vehicle up. We recommend you thoroughly research your shippers before choosing one. It is unfortunate but there are many disreputable shippers out there and you need to be careful. We try to keep a list of good and bad shippers we have had experience with and are happy to share this information with you. but we are in no way responsible for the shipping company you choose. We do not take any vehicles offsite for any reason. such as to a shipping terminal or shipping port. All vehicles must be picked up at the dealership during regular business hours. Pricing and delivery terms are between you and the shipper you choose.

 

How do I get there?

We are conveniently located near several major highways. airports and train stations. We do not do airport pickups. but if you fly into Liberty International Airport in Newark. New Jersey there is a NJ transit train that you can take to the Hackettstown Station and we would be happy to pick you up there. Please call us for directions or to discuss travel options. we are happy to help you in any way possible to make the trip as easy as possible.

 

What happens if I exceed the 7 day period?

We have limited space for storage of vehicles. We will work with you if it will take you longer than 7 days to pick the vehicle up so long as it is paid for. However. if you do not contact us to make arrangements we charge a $25 per day storage fee for every day after the 7 day grace period has expired.

 

Do I need insurance?

If you would like us to issue you a temporary transit tag we will need proof of insurance on the vehicle you are buying. This proof must include the VIN of the vehicle. year. make and model as well as the insurance companies name and policy number and an expiration date. Temporary transit tags are valid for 30 days for New Jersey residents and 20 days for out of state residents.

 

Lastly. but most important!

By bidding on the above vehicle or by purchasing any vehicle. bidder/buyer acknowledges all eBay rules and the rules and regulations as stated by Highlands Auto Exchange. By placing your bid you accept all the rules listed herein and understand there are no refunds or cancellations. as your bid is a legal and binding contract. (as stated in the eBay user guidelines).

With all of that said. we are very fair and full disclosure of all known issues is our intention. We do not look to mislead anyone. We operate on very little profit since most of these vehicles are sold at a wholesale price often times thousands below what a retail dealership or KBB would value the vehicle for. so we are not looking for problems while making a modest return on a cheap vehicle. Our listings include far more information than the typical eBay motors auction. Every listing we create includes over 80 pictures. an in depth video which includes a complete walkaround and test drive of the vehicle. and a detailed hand written description of any and all of the features and defects we know about. We have been in the car business for 30 years so we are pretty thorough at pointing out any obvious issues. Anything we cannot see. hear or feel is not our responsibility. If we make repairs to a vehicle prior to listing it we will note that in the listing. If there is a repair that needs to be done to a vehicle you are purchasing do NOT assume we “knew” about it. Most of these vehicles have been around for over a decade and we do not go through them with a fine tooth comb prior to listing them. If you are unsure about the vehicle you are looking at please have a third party inspect it for you. this is cheap insurance. We do not guarantee inspection in New Jersey or any other state. We have no knowledge of other states inspection laws so please do not ask us if we think it will pass your states inspection. Even though we work on a very low profit margin we want all of our customers to be happy. We are NOT mechanics nor do we have one on site and this is NOT a certified pre owned vehicle. Please read our feedback and you will see that almost every one of our customers has been completely satisfied and that is our goal for you! Most of our buyers are prepared to buy a used car. and you should be too. We encourage our customers to leave us positive feedback and we will do the same for you. If you are having the vehicle shipped and you did not come to inspect it before bidding please don’t expect a new car to arrive at your house. even though it is new to you it is still a used vehicle. and please keep in mind that anything can happen during the transport process. Negative feedback from buyers who do not take the due diligence to have the vehicle inspected by a knowledgeable third party prior to bidding. buy the vehicle and have it shipped across the country have very little merit and can be easily disputed in our defense. Repairs should be expected. especially if you want the vehicle to be in “like new” condition. If you are not happy with your purchase. for any reason. please let us know BEFORE you leave feedback because there may be something we can do to help you. but once negative feedback has been left. it is out of our hands. and then we are both unhappy and that is NOT the way we like to do business. A Non refundable deposit of $500. 00 is required IMMEDIATELY after winning the auction via Paypal. and not to exceed 24 hours. the balance is payable in CASH only. if you are picking up the car in person. If you are shipping the car the only form of payment I accept is a bank wire transfer. If this is not possible and you must pay via Paypal you will have to pay a 5% inconvenience fee.

 

I do not accept bank/certified checks as final payment. I only accept cash in person when you pick the vehicle up. If you can not pick the vehicle up in person I will accept a bank wire transfer. payable before transport. If you must use PayPal for anything more than the $500 deposit there will be a 5% inconvenience fee.

 

 

Fee and Tax Information:

If you live inside New Jersey you will have to pay the 7% sales tax. we don't like it. but it is the law and we have to collect it. If you live outside of New Jersey you must pay the sales tax in your home state. There is a NON negotiable $149. 00 doc fee on every transaction. If you require a temporary tag to drive it home they are $25. 00
