Up for sale is my 1960 Plymouth Fury 4dr Hardtop.
This car was sold to William V. Peed of San Diego. California on May 17th 1961 by Jack Powell Motors in Escondido. California. This car is an early production model. The body tag indicated a planned delivery date of January 7th 1960. This car was car number 3. 57 built at the Los Angeles plant. My guess is the car was a dealer promo car as this car has quite a few options and then possibly a loaner car. The car was first sold on May 17th 1961. Quite a ways into the 1961 model year. This car still retains its original California black plates.
This car is equipped with the Golden Commando 361 V8 engine. Dual exhaust. Single AFB 4bbl carburetor and dual points distributor. The original carb has been swapped with a brand new Edelbrock 1406 4bbl carburetor. The car also has a MoPar electronic ignition conversion. New wires. plugs. distributor. coil. etc. All original parts are with the car to go back to the stock setup.  The odometer reads 19814 miles. I was told the speedo cluster was swapped out at some point so I am not certain of the cars actual mileage. Engine is strong but has some wear due to the amount of miles. There is some blow by noticeable.  The engine is mated to a 3 speed cast iron Torqueflite pushbutton automatic. The car runs and drives well. The transmission was rebuilt in 1991 according to the paperwork with the car.  There are a few leaks here and there as with most any old car.
The body is in good shape. There was some rust in the drip rails and a few small spots behind the rear glass. The front and rear glass was removed as well as the trim. rust cut out and new metal welded in. The top was repainted white. The white paint is also below the rear glass as some work was done to the metal and needed paint. The car shows some "Patina" in the gold paint. There are some dings here and there and some minor surface rust. Nothing too serious. Floor and trunk pan is in perfect shape. The trim is all in decent shape. The headlight trim rings are nearly perfect. If you know anything about '60/'61 headlight rings. they are always beat up and damaged.
I had the front and rear seats reupholstered mimicking the original design. New carpet installed. New windlacing. The original card headliner is in great shape. The plastic bows are in good shape and still pliable. Sun visors were recovered in black. I replaced the old dry lapbelts with new vintage styled airplane type lapbelts.
The brakes were fully rebuilt by the previous owner. New master cylinder. wheel cylinders. shoes. lines. New bearings and seals. Car stops well and the bellows booster works as it should.
All the gauges work. Gas gauge is accurate. The speedometer does not read below 20MPH for some reason. I haven't looked into it. Headlights. Turn signals. brake lights all work as they should. The pushbutton heater buttons work well. The buttons click into place as they should and aren't stiff. Heater works exceptionally well. The power windows operate as they should. They go up and down effortlessly. How many vintage cars can you find with power windows? It does spoil you a bit when you're used to laying over the seat to roll down the passenger side window! The master switch and individual switches all work. Car has a dealer installed underdash air conditioning system. It works very well and gets nice and cold. Especially nice in the summer time!
Radiator has been serviced and the car keeps cool in all conditions. Car has a rebuilt steering box which is tight. Front suspension has some play that could be addressed. NORS tailight lenses. Car is sitting on the correct 800-14 Goodyear Super Cushion whitewall tires. The tread is fairly low due to my many trips with the car. Car has original bumper jack and tire iron.

Everything from tune ups to a driveline rebuild.
This car spent its whole life in San Diego. California before I bought the car and drove it home 3. 00 miles to North Carolina. She cruises the highway effortlessly and is very comfortable to ride in. I drove this car on the last Hotrod Power Tour which took this car from Concord. NC to Wisconsin Dells. WI and back which was somewhere around 1600 miles. Not a bit of trouble. This car is 1 of 9. 36 Fury 4 door hardtops built in 1960. Not many are left. But I haven't seen another one with as many options as this car has.
I have tried to describe the car as accurately as I can.  Please ask any questions. I'll be happy to answer them. I've included some photos of my drive across the country when I first got the car. I wouldn't be afraid to drive this car anywhere. You could come drive it home if you wanted.
Clear California title in my name.
