This could very well be a rare opportunity to own one of GM's experimental cars from 1979.  In 1979. GM along with Duntov were experimenting with turbo chargers on various GM cars including the Corvette.  If you google experimental corvette - you will come across this article at markali. com for turbovette history.
The corvette that I am listing here today has the martin turbo charging system on it which is one of the turbo systems used in '79 in the experimental corvettes.  To look at this engine and turbo charger system. it has all aged equally as if to say that the turbo charger has been on the car since it was built.  I looked at the engine for the serial number on the front pad of the block only to find that the pad has never been stamped.  It has been expressed to me that in the past. when GM gave cars to the people they worked hand in hand with to create experimental vehicles. that they offered the vehicle with unstamped engines. GM did many things in the past that have not been published or well documented.  I have no documentation on this car to prove it is an experimental car; however. everybody that sees it believes the turbo charger was installed when the car was built.
The car runs well.  It does not burn any oil.  I am not sure of the mileage on the car.  The odometer is broke and reads 27. 01.  I do not believe the mileage is much greater than that based on the excellent foundation it has.  What I mean by that is. the underneath of the car (frame. chassis. ) is very clean.  There is only surface rust as you can see in the photos.  All the steel structures by the front & rear bumpers are very sound.  The back wheels sit up nice and straight not like you would expect in a higher mileage corvette.  According to the VIN Code it is an L-82.
Up until recently. this car was driven daily only when nice weather permitted.  A few of the reasons why it was only driven in nice weather are the windshield wipers do not work so the previous owner installed a manual switch under the hood.  The headlights work but do not pop up.  I see a large vacuum line in the engine bay that runs to the nose of the car that has been plugged.  I am sure there must be some sort of vacuum leak up front.  The power window motors were removed to be freed up and never reinstalled.  It appears as if the car. at some point in its life. has sat for quite some time.  So. with that being said. I consider this to be a project car because it needs windows repaired. headlight doors repaired. windshield is cracked on the right side. wipers repaired and the car needs a paint job.
The car was in its original ice blue paint when the previous owner decided to sand the car and spray it with epoxy gray primer.  He did not like the way the original paint was all checked.  The interior will need new carpet and a new dash pad.
The car has brand new tires. battery. alternator and front brake calipers and newer mufflers.  The rest of the exhaust system looks original.  It does have factory glass t-tops.
Like I stated earlier. the car starts and drives down the road very well.  This is a no hit car. it retains all its original body panels and bumpers.
The optional hood you see in the photos is a hood that was on the car previously until the previous owner took it off because he had a problem with rain and water getting in on the engine causing the distributor and wires to get wet since there is no original shielding.  This does come with the car as long as it sells for a minimum of the starting bid.
**It has been brought to my attention that the VIN Number on the title shows a number 5 where it it should show assembly plant "S".  The vin plate on the car shows the "S" correctly.  All I can figure is that at some point in the vehicles title history someone made a typo of the "5" instead of typing a "S" and no one ever caught it. *****The title now matches the vin on the car.  It has been corrected by the Ohio Department of Transportation.  They researched the title and found their error in the history of the title.  They fixed it and issued me a new good clean title. ***Again. this could be a rare opportunity especially at this low starting bid.
