1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible

National AACA First Place Winner!

For American car collectors of the 1960s. one of the most popular and desirable cars of the decade would be a Lincoln Continental four-door convertible.   There are so many reasons that this car has become so popular and a few of these will be described as follows:

These Lincoln Continentals were the first post-war four-door convertibles and were designed with lines that were so clean and striking accented with a minimal amount of chrome that it was a total deviation from the heavily laden chromed cars from the 1950s.   A very fresh and modern look.

To top this off. the convertible top was a mechanical wonder and totally disappeared with no sign of a canvas top or boot to cover the top when it was down as this was all done with flush sheet metal. again to prevent the interruption of the clean lines of the body whether the top is up or down.

When you think about it what other post-war American car has suicide rear doors to make the entrance and exit most graceful for the people that are sitting in the back seat.   Of course the Lincoln came with an extremely powerful and smooth shifting engine and beautifully designed interior in leather that was elegant and also comfortable.

When you look at the design of the dashboard you can see how the elegant theme is carried out throughout the car.

The elegance. power and prestige of the Lincoln Continental resulted with the White House often using the Lincolns in various extended forms as presidential limousines. adding to the Lincoln's ambiance and prominence.

There were options that you could order from Lincoln but one of the most important features was air conditioning.   In the 1950s and 1960s it was somewhat unusual to get a convertible that had air conditioning because the thought back then was if you are going to put the top down who is going to need or want air conditioning.   Today of course people think much differently.

The car that you see in this ad is absolutely the epitome of a 1962 Lincoln four door convertible.   It has all the elegance and comfort and the features described above.   Furthermore it has every option ever offered by Lincoln on the four-door convertible except the wood grain package with the very desirable factory air conditioning.   In addition. this car is a show car that drives exquisitely.

In 2013 this car was fully restored and it shows beautiful.   This car for sale has been awarded First National Award at AACA and the First National Award at the Lincoln Continental Owners Club awards.   It is also MissChiTown's favorite color of a Nocturne Blue Metallic that perfectly compliments the stylish minimal chrome design.   The interior leather and carpeting is a factory correct medium blue that was specially dyed to match the original interior color.   New white vinyl convertible top look spectacular.   Restoration is impeccable.

The data plate code identifies this car as a DSO (Direct Sales Office) car that was made for a Ford or Lincoln executive.

Note. the car currently has Halogen headlights but the original 1962 headlights will be included with the sale.

Odometer reads 22. 39 miles.

In the seller's own words he has told that he went to a great deal of effort to restore this beautiful 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible to factory specifications.   The seller purchased this car that came from Florida; where it had been in the Florida International Museum for six years displayed as part of the “Presidential Journey” (see brochure in video).   The seller has been very particular with the restoration of this car and it is understandable why the car has received the awards it has.   The seller was very happy to provide us with dozens of photos that show off every detail.   You can see in the photos that the interior is exceptional right down to the matching seat belts. modern AM/FM radio that has been designed to look original in the dash and hidden I-Pod hookup.  In the video the convertible top is shown disappearing into the trunk.    The seller has provided bidders with multiple photos of the underside and if you look at the gas tank you can see that the seller worked hard to get the gas tank polished and the underside cleaned and detailed for show purposes.   Also note the new stainless steel exhaust.   The engine compartment is also very detailed for show purposes.

The seller is including the following with the sale of the car:

Covercraft Custom Fitted Car Cover

1962 Original Sales Brochure

1st Place National Awards AACA Trophy

First Place National Award from the Lincoln Continental Owners Club plaque.

2 Sets of Custom Carpet Floor Mats with Embroidered Lincoln Logo

1961-1963 Master Parts Catalog Chassis

1960-1964 Master Parts Catalog Group 16. 00 thru 60. 00

John F. Kennedy Exhibit Museum Brochure with Picture of Car

AGAIN WE INVITE YOU TO TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE PHOTOS AND THE VIDEOS THAT THE SELLER HAS PROVIDED SO YOU CAN SEE THE EXCEPTIONAL DETAIL OF THIS SHOW READY LINCOLN!

Just when you think it couldn't get any better and are convinced that this is probably one of the finest. if not THE finest collectible Lincoln 4-door convertibles ever offered for sale. you find out that this particular car was on exhibit at the Florida International Museum to represent the Presidential Car for the John F. Kennedy. The Exhibition.    The photo of the museum brochure shows the car in the museum setting.   While this was not a presidential car but the museum felt that this car represented the presidential cars used during the Kennedy administration.   The car was used for this exhibit with presidential flags.
