1965 Ford Mustang GT K-Code Coupe

Numbers matching '65 K-Code GT Coupe! Finished in factory correct colors of Raven Black over Blue vinyl bench seat! Fully restored and in the K-Code registry! This car is ready to go!

In Mustang circles. enthusiasts of early cars will rave about the rare. and sought after “K” code designation. For those of you who are unaware. this infamous “K” is a very tough option to find in any of the 1. 8 million Mustangs produced from 1965-1967. Only 7. 73 cars received this K-code performance option. and it was the exact vehicle selected by road racer. Carroll Shelby. as his platform vehicle for the ever-popular GT350! The option included a 289ci V8 built with a host of durable performance components to produce an incredible 271 horsepower at 6. 00rpm along with a heavy-duty suspension! This was . 95 horsepower per cu in of displacement which was quite an accomplishment! Because of this fact. these small lightweight powerhouse engines also found their way into the original Shelby Cobra roadster just two years earlier! Ford also caught the attention of European manufacturers who elected to use these dependable engines as well. They included Sunbeam. Lotus. Lola. and Cooper to name a few!

We are very excited to offer this 1965 Ford Mustang GT K-Code Coupe! The car is finished in its factory color combination of (A) Raven Black over rare (32) Blue vinyl bench seat with armrest. The car maintains its original numbers matching Hi-Po 289ci K-Code motor and 4-speed manual transmission that has been retrofitted with a Hurst shift lever for more precise throws. The motor wears a polished Cobra aluminum intake and a Speed Demon carburetor. The car is further fitted with a Rally-Pac clock/tachometer. GT equipment group (HD suspension. 22:1 steering. front disc brakes. 4-inch fog lamps. five-dial instrument cluster. GT badging. hood accent molding and triple stripe on lower body). radio and antenna. reverse lights. front seatbelts and styled steel wheels wrapped in P205/70R14 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 dual red line radial tires.

This Mustang was restored in Phoenix. Arizona roughly 7-8 years ago and entered into the K-Code registry. From there. it was purchased and enjoyed by the previous owner back in its original DSO of Indianapolis. While the car does have several add-ons that make it more fun to drive (Hurst shifter. radial tires. Locker rear end). it is a largely original car and still wears many of its correct K-Code equipment including 610 lb rear leaf springs. motor mounts. and Hi-Po fuel pump. The majority of parts that should be date coded are and the body is exceptionally straight. with even panel gaps and no signs of accidents in its past. The car's undercarriage. while not done to a councours level. is nicely detailed with a full header-back stainless steel H-pipe exhaust attracting much attention. The under hood appearance is also nice. with gloss finished on most components. Autolite battery cover and correct tower clamps on Ford brand radiator hoses. The car comes with an original 1965 owner's manual and shows 23. 28 miles. which likely represents 123. 28 but we are not able to verify this. The car is a fully functional and rather unique example of Ford's hottest 1965 Mustang and should make for quite the show pony. We are excited to work with the next owner of this wonderful K-Code; please don't hesitate to ask any additional questions! Thanks for looking!
