Reluctantly selling my beautiful LHD 1968 Karmann Ghia Convertible.

This is a low maintenance classic offering excellent summer fun with plenty of little jobs to keep an enthusiast busy.

THE GOOD

> Imported from California in pieces and restored in 2009. Garaged for last four years.
> Full 2pack re-spray in metallic garnet red.
> Reconditioned engine mechanically sound. never fails to start first time.
> '68 is best year- front disc brakes. 12v electrics but keeps the 60's style rear lights.

> Seats professionally re-trimmed in biscuit pleather/burgundy piping. matching doorcards
> Dashboard painted to match body colour. period radio & new glovebox liner
> Custom cut deep pile carpets & thick underfelt plus brand new fixed 3-point Karmann seatbelts

> Harrington stainless steel (non-rust) towel rail bumpers & O/E style chromed wide wheels
> Rear plastic window in hood replaced and extra sound proofing layers added
> Comes with indoor and outdoor fitted covers

THE BAD

> Wrong front indicators for the year
> Small area of passenger side floor pan has been patch welded (otherwise the pan is solid)
> Some rubber seals are missing (e. g. nose badge)
> Missing chrome side strips & windscreen surround (but I have these and can sell with the car)
> Some rubber roof seals have started to perish (not currently 'water-tight') . Roof liner heavily soiled
> Sunvisors missing
> Bi-polar fuel gauge (swings between optimistic and empty)

THE UGLY

> Paint job is v. good. but definitely not amazing. Some areas of thick paint/filler - it was not a bare metal job and has its flaws - perfectionists beware!
> Some small bubbling around headlights
> Filler on F/NS wing along bonnet edge needs attention
> Rear deck lid is finely spotted
> Chip to left of engine lid Happy to photograph the paint problems (she is so shiny they don't show up on the photos here).

THE DEAL

This car is a real head turner and is perfect for someone looking for a fun summer drive.

As mentioned above there is plenty to be tinkered with if you are an enthusiast.

Note to bidders – PLEASE BE REALISTIC - we have seen a few tire kickers who have been happy to sneer at the little faults and complain that it is not an original car – the description above is honest - if you are looking for a £20. 00 Grade A showroom classic. this is not the car for you - save up and buy a perfect specimen to hide in your garage.

If you are looking for a beautiful. useable summer drive. bid away!

Thanks for looking!

I am working on painting a 74 Ghia. Looking for a nice dark red/maroon. What color was this car painted, please? I am looking at MG Midget and Triumph colors. Damask Red and Damson Red.
