The Spider nameplate originates from the English word 'speeder'. br/>a two person open horse-carriage. The Alfa Romeo Spider 105/115
series was produced from 1966 to 1993 remaining in production for
almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical
changes with the first three series assembled by designer
Pininfarina.
Originally offered as a 1750cc. 1971 saw the Spider Veloce get a
new larger powerplant. a 1962cc. 132bhp unit and consequently the
name was changed from 1750 Spider Veloce to 2000 Spider
Veloce.
The 1300 and 2000 cars were modified in 1974 and 1975 respectively
to include two small seats behind the front seats becoming a 2+2.
Also. between 1974 and 1976. the early-style stainless-steel
bumpers were discontinued and replaced with black. rubber-clad
units to meet increasingly stringent North American crash
requirements.
Just 16. 20 2000 Spider Veloce's were made and very few can be
found in such condition as this roadster offered here. Finished in
blue with biscuit leather trim presented in very good order. this
lovely example has been owned and cared for. We have the bills to
prove an astonishing amount of money has been spent in order to
maintain it to this high standard.

Owned now by an experienced ex-Ferrari and Aston Martin racing
mechanic. much attention has been taken to ensure that the engine
doesn't miss a beat. In 2010. it was taken to Milan and back for
the centenary celebration before an engine recondition in 2011
performed by the current vendor. A comprehensive history since 1996
can be found with bills relating to a gearbox recondition by
Lombards at 76. 00 miles. new shock absorbers and brakes along with
over £24. 00 worth of other accompanying bills rendering the
history file well worth a read.

An MoT test certificate valid until June 2015 and V5
registration certificate accompany the extensive history file and
given the investment in this car. why not take advantage of the
previous owner's hard work and dedication and invest in a truly
wonderful piece of Italian motoring.
