The Carrera 2. 7 RS is highly regarded by collectors and
considered by many to be the greatest Porsche 911 ever produced. RS
stood forRennsportmeaningrace sportin English. The Carrera name was
reintroduced from the 356 Carrera which had itself been named after
Porsche's class victories in the Carrera Panamericana road races in
Mexico during the 1950's. The RS was built as a homologation car to
allow Porsche to enter a racing series that demanded that a certain
minimum number of production cars were made. Compared with a
standard 911S. the Carrera 2. 7 RS had a larger engine with a
displacement of 2687cc developing 210 hp with mechanical fuel
injection. revised and stiffened suspension. a 'ducktail' rear
spoiler. larger brakes. wider rear wheels and rear wings.

Originally produced from the factory in 1989 as a
964 Carrera 4. this car has spent its life as a well
cared for 911 back up by a full service history. In its later life. br/>turbo arches were added with a 935 flatfront conversion and
featured in the 2010 film 'Streetdance'. It has recently
benefitted from a comprehensive engine rebuild. a full
gearbox rebuild and a new clutch. suspension and brake
overhaul. It has now been stripped down and converted back to
1973 911 RS 2. 8 litre specification by 911 Rennsport Ltd
including a full re-paint in authentic Porsche Gulf Blue with
contrasting black decals. The wings are lightweight GRP 2. 8L
RS units as is the rear quarter extensions with torsion bar
covers. The bonnet and front and rear bumpers are also lightweight
items as is the all important ducktail deck lid. The lights are
also backdated and the whole car sits on correct period two tone
black/silver Fuchs alloys. The door frames. handles and window
surrounds are all polished and the interior has been completely
stripped and replaced with 1973 RS specification Perlon carpet set.
New bucket seats are in place as are lightweight door panels and a
Momo Prototipo steering wheel. These powerful sportscars can be a
handful to drive; however with a 3600cc engine. power
steering. manual gearbox and four wheel drive. you can still
have the RS experience combined with the manners expected of a
modern car.
