Up for bid is my 1961 Plymouth Fury. also known as " Poly. " VIN # 3311195945. This is an all original car that is bone stock. I have owned Poly for almost 9 years. The car was purchased outside the Kruse Classic Car Auction on Labor Day weekend in 2005. I drove the car home the next day. a trip of about 2 hours and had no problems. What a great car! Here are some specs on Poly. V8 - 318 with single Carter 2 bbl. Carb. Torqueflite 3 speed automatic trans. With converter. Hp 230 at 4400 rpm. Torque 340 ft lbs at 2400 rpm. Poly has always been kept in an attached garage and covered with a high quality custom car cover. It has been out in the rain only once and never in the snow. Always kept clean without car washes and waxed and polished at least 3 times a year. Current mileage on the odometer is 80211 and it's correct. Poly is painted in two tone. Alpine white and Emerald green are the colors. In 1961 this was known as Sport Tone. The data plate shows that this came off the line as an all alpine white car so someone in the past repainted it as a sport tone in correct paint colors for 1961. No harm no foul. Options on this car are as follows: Square Glitter Steering Wheel. Remote drivers side mirror. Foot button activated windshield washer fluid. inted Sky View rear window. rear window defroster and of course the V-8 engine. Plus the Fury was the top of the line in Plymouth in 1961. As you can see in the photos the body of this car is in nice condition. It is straight with no dents. Paint is also in good condition. All outside stainless steel trim is in very good condition with a couple of pieces around the windows that could use refinishing. All windows roll up and down. The two doors open and shut well. The rear bumper has a small dent and could use rechroming. Front bumper is in much nicer condition. It has some chrome loss but it is where nobody will notice unless their face is touching the lower part of the bumper. There are no trim pieces missing. Original hubcaps are in very good condition. Trunk is in excellent condition with no rust at all. Chrome taillights are in very good condition with no pitting. Poly has a very good interior. Front and rear seats are in excellent condition with no rips or any fading. Carpet is in excellent condition with no with no fading or excessive wear. Door panels are in good condition with small chip in plastic on door handle on driver's side. Original glass is in very good condition with the exception of what looks to be a couple of wiper marks on the right side of the windshield. The dashboard is in good condition but is missing the padded cover which it originally came with. Also was another option on this car. All electrical components on Poly are there. Some work some do not but all the important ones do. Headlights. reverse lights. tailights. brake lights. rear turn signals. wipers. speedometer. odometer. gas gauge and amp gauge are all in proper working order. I do not know if the heater. ear defroster or the window washer foot pump work because I have never needed to use them. I do know that the front parking lights / turn signals. temp gauge and horn do not work. Poly starts easily even after sitting for extended periods of time. The transmission works well and shifts smoothly. The car has a comfortable ride. especially at highway speeds. Poly drives straight with no pulling to the side and no unusual tire wear. Also the car idles quietly and smoothly. Poly has never had an overheating issue even in heavy traffic. I have been told by many car people that this engine and trans combo is bulletproof. Poly stops very well with no pulling. The only thing that I have restored on this car is the steering wheel. The wheel had major yellowing and several cracks. I found a gentleman out in California who said he could do the Restoration . He did a beautiful job on the wheel which is my favorite part of this car. I get many complements at car shows and cruises. The only problem with Poly is cosmetic and does not affect the use of the car. It is the headliner and the issue is that it droops in the back of the car at the rear window. Last summer I went to a cruise and took two of my friends with me. This was the first time that I had passengers in my back seat and that caused the headliner to pull out of. its. moulding and sag. It is not damaged and can easily be fixed probably needing two people. This is a used car and is being sold as is with no guarantees expressed or implied. Buyer will be responsible for paying for shipment of the car. After the auction has ended and you are the winning bidder I need a $ 2000. 00 deposit put into my PayPal account in the next 48 hours. Balance will be due within the next five days after the deposit shows in my PayPal account. I will accept a bank certified check or cash as payment for the car. If I do not receive the balance of the payment within 10 days I will resist the car and keep your deposit for my inconvience. In closing I want to let you know that Poly is NOT a show car or a trailer queen but he is an excellent example of a RARE car. I have owned Poly for almost 9 years and have never seen another 1961 Fury. Every year I go to the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak. Michigan. Biggest classic car cruise in the entire country They get around 40. 00 participants each year from all over the U. S. Plus quite a. few foreign countries and I have never seen a 61 Plymouth Fury at this event. If you do purchase this car you will be getting lots of attention at car shows and cruises. Everyone will want to know what it is. It's a great way to talk to other car people. I have loved enjoying Poly with other people. I tell them it is an important piece of our history that will never be seen again and worth preserving into the future. I have tried to tell you everything about Poly. but I'm sure I've forgotten something that you want to know. So please feel free to contact me with any of. your questions or concerns. My phone # is 1-248-760-2064. My email address is dpmerrell318@yahoo. com. Hope to hear from you. I love to talk about my car. Thanks for looking!
