Welcome to my auction for this 1965 MK1 Cortina. as you can see it has been converted to a convertible. I'm not sure if the conversion was carried out by Crayford but whoever did the work. completed it to a very high standard. as you can see from the shut lines on the doors. I purchased the car 12 months ago but unfortunately the clown I bought it from failed to send any documents with the car. I did the deal over the internet and telephone it was in Essex and I'm in Blackpool. yes I know I'm a fool ) after several emails and telephone calls over many months he never even had the courtesy to reply or answer any of my calls. so I was left with a car and no documents not even a VIN plate. I didn't even know engine size. however I contacted the DVLA and spoke to a very helpfull young lady who took the reg number and found the car was on the system. it has been on a SORN for many years. I was getting somewhere at last. she also told me that it was a 1200cc engine. There was a snag though it is still listed as a saloon however she told me to fill in the appropriate forms also to send photographs of every angle of the car and a covering letter explaining my predicament. this has all been done so I'm just waiting for them to get back to me.

Anyway back to the car. it comes with pretty much everything to complete the car. seats. screen. seals. door cards. bumpers. trim. etc etc. seats and doorcards have seen better days ) it is fitted with 5. 5 J Lotus rims with exellent tyres. It looks like the restoration was nearly completed and then ground to a halt with many new parts fitted. for example the fluid reservoirs. fuel pump. and solenoid have only corroded on the top. like its been stood for many years. The engine turns over freely by hand so I don't think there going to be any problems there. every thing is wired up. bviously it would need a new battery. and the gearbox. which is out of the car looks like its been reconditioned I'm not positive about that though. It does require a bit of welding to the rear foot wells but this would be fairly straight forward as the seats are not attached. I only put them in for the pictures and there is no carpet. so it could be done from the top side. On to the hood. the basic frame is fitted and there are a number of other bids and pieces of framework but to be honest I can't make head nor tail of them. there is no actual hood with car only the metal components however there are a number of drawings for the hood with all the measurements but again they look pretty confusing to me!!

In the right hands this could be turned into a very nice and very rare car. I'm sure that any potential buyers will want to inspect the car to satisfy themselves that all the bits and pieces are there and its what their looking for. just drop me a line and we can arrange it. I'm not looking for any part X's thankyou.

This is a no reserve auction. I am open to sensible offers
