1955 Studebaker Speedster

 For Sale: All-original. 1955 Studebaker President Speedster. This beautiful. well-maintained Studebaker. was purchased by its first owner. a daily driver. in Salt Lake City. Utah. in 1955. It was sold to its second owner. in Provo. Utah. in the mid-90's. The second owner “watched” this car for years before making the purchase. Unfortunately. he passed away before having the chance to perform a complete restoration. The car sat for nearly 20 years in a barn in Provo. We recently made this find when the land was sold. along with the barn. We have put over 100 hours into cleaning and restoring this car to its current condition. We have completed the following maintenance over the last few months:

o   All new brake system (upgraded Hydrovac power booster. master cylinder. wheel cylinder. shoes. springs and rear brake line).

o   New 6 volt battery.

o   New oil. belt. spark plugs. plug wires. cap and rotor.    All motor compartment electrical connections cleaned and treated.

o   Cooling system flush with all new heater hoses.

o   Power steering flush with all new fluids

o   Rear end flush and refill.

o   Rebuilt original WCFB Carter carburetor.

o   Complete interior cleaning and leather seat treatment (out of car)

We noticed the following during the maintenance efforts:              

Recently rebuilt front end and newer Firestone whitewall tires.

Several surplus replacement chrome trim pieces and basic maintenance parts. One new crank shaft still in the original shipping container.

Correct size and inflated spare tire.

Dual exhaust mufflers will need to be replaced.

Fine tune the timing once mufflers replaced.

Automatic shifter fine tune after timing.

 

This Speedster is particularly rare. It is 1 of only 2. 15 cars manufactured during the 1955. Of all these cars. this is 1 of only 420 made in the LA plant (While all others were made in South Bend. Indiana. ) Additionally. it includes power steering. a leather interior. and the “sport-version” of the engine. The original color was coral pink and grey. This car style is truly unique. with an abundance of chrome on the front. and around the entire vehicle. The car comes with a spotlight as well. The mileage is most likely 101. 55 and not 1. 55

It has wide whitewalls and Studebaker wire wheel covers. All of the main components on this car are ORIGINAL! This adds to the rarity. Nothing is missing on this car – It is all complete! We brought this beauty to a Studebaker car show in May. and received nonstop praise on just how great of condition this car is in. considering that it is unmolested. To and from the car show we were stopped multiple times by individuals wanting to take a closer look of this car. The purchase of this car includes multiple chrome pieces and additional parts that could be used for a more in-depth restoration. The dash is in excellent shape with no noticeable wear. Headliner is in great shape. A spare tire is included. Rust is very minimal on this car. which is difficult to find for this particular Studebaker.

While this car would operate as a great daily driver as-is. there is obvious wear and tear on the vehicle. The leather seats look great overall. but. because of age. some cracks are found in the leather and will require repair or replacement. There are two small chips in the front windshield. There are small paint bubbles. and some normal wear on the paint.
