The car I am selling is a 1965 Amphicar. The car does go in the water and has been in the water 3 times and everything works great. The car has been restored about 14 years ago then I bought just after restore. There has been only 3000 of this cars built and there is only approx 300 left that still float in exitance. I had the president of amphicar of america here and he told me that this could be very well be one of the best Amphicar in exitance. This car has been kept in a climate controlled museum for the last 14 years. The only time it went out was for taking a dip in the water and it does get started simi annually to keep every thing moving.
* Body was rust free prior to restore.
* Body was completely Dipped in a e-coat bath.
* All parts that were used in the restore were NOS parts if available.
* In the restore every nut. bolt. part and piece has been rotisserie restored.
* Drains were installed in the rear quarter panels as an upgrade to be sure the body drains all water after swimming. (Something that Amphicar should have done).
* Interior was all replaced with NOS parts.
* All driveline rebuilt.
* If buyer wants to talk to the person that restored he lives close to us and is willing to answer any questions.
The only thing on the car that has any issues is the convertible top. It is ripped on both sides. We decide not to replace because we keep it down all the time.
The car is forsale locally and may end auction at any time.
