This era of SLs come from a time when Mercedes really made cars to last and quality was the only real consideration. The doors close with a reassuring “thunk” and the whole car feels immensely solid and reassuring to drive. They have a well-deserved reputation for reliability and are very straightforward and cheap classics to run. I can see exactly why these cars are so popular.  They represent a really good opportunity to experience luxury. relaxed classiness and fun without breaking the bank. They're perfectly useable on a day-to-day basis or as a weekend car and keep their value very well.

This car is in excellent condition with superb white paintwork and chrome and matching hardtop. with a recent navy blue hood in superb condition. The Alloy wheels are in superb condition as are all tyres. including a brand new spare tyre.  The interior is very tidy. with no cutouts in the door panels for speakers. The body panels are original and very straight with excellent shut lines.  It comes with lots of history including the original stamped service booklet. showing 13 main dealer stamps up to 72500 in 1998. Snce then it has had specialist servicing. The history file comes with some previous MOTS.

The car has been very well looked after by me in the three years I have owned it. I've kept the car under cover in the garage at all times. except when being driven.

The car is MOTd until March 2014

This SL is the SL model to have:

·         1987 build date (anyone who is looking for a quality Mercedes SL will know that the model made from 1986 onwards is the one everyone wants. with improved body protection. nicer alloy wheels. discreet front spoiler. better water pump and other improvements).

·         300SL model – the lighter 6 cylinder engine with better fuel economy and handling than the 8 cylinder models. There's very little difference in performance between the various engines.

·         Low mileage for these long-lasting cars of 89400.

·         A very popular colour combination – White with Navy blue leather interior.

There are some faults with the car. one of the four heater control levers has broke although the heater is fine. I can order a new heater control lever. The economy gauge does not work.
