Created and previously owned by one of Florida’s top Street Rod builders and metal fabricators. this incredible 1933 Ford Roadster combines top-notch parts and build quality with a period correct style to create the ultimate tribute to WWII Veterans.

It is one of the neatest cars we have had. and gets more attention. photos. and interest than anything else I have ever had the pleasure to cruise around in!

DESCRIPTION

When you can buy a car from the man whose hands built it. it is always a good thing. I mean. who knows it better than the guy that turned the wrenches on every part? When you can buy that car from one of the region’s most respected metal fabricators. street rod builders. and drag racing icons. it is EVEN BETTER! That’s why I was thrilled to have the chance to purchase this incredible. one of kind machine. and I hope it can find a worthy new owner here on eBay.

The first thing to grab your attention on this machine is the paint! Finished in Drab Army Green. the car looks like it belongs in front of the O Club already!

The finish on the car is just how it is supposed to be. with all the little marks. scuffs. and tiny stone chips from driving and enjoying it left right where they should be! This leaves a killer patina reminiscent of when you see old Army vehicles on display.

Don’t think it is all roughed up. because it is not. it just hasn’t tried to hide any of the little marks it has accrued over the past two years like most trailer Queens do!

The hand-painted murals on the car are amazing. and were done in a period correct style that looks perfect on the car. From the bomb-riding girls on the hood back to SGT. SMOKE UM’ on the back. the car carries its artwork with the same pride I imagine bombers had back in the day.

The tub of the car is a Downs Industries fiberglass unit that was carefully trimmed and precision fit to insure great door gaps. easy open doors and trunk. and solid seals throughout the cabin.

Suicide doors open and close with ease. and they don’t sag.

The body was mated to real steel fenders. running boards. hood. and hood sides. and everything fits together like it should.

The front lower section where the fenders meet below the grill has been bent back from the car going to close to a parking carb before I got it. The prior owner and I both think it lends a bit more character to the car. so neither one of us elected to simply pull it back out. Other than that little issue. I can see no other flaws in the metal work or fiberglass on the car.

The chrome vintage style tail lamps look great on the car. and work properly too. as do the oversized head lamps up front with hi-beam functionality.

Chrome mirrors on each side of the car are fully functional too. as is the aged billet rear-view mirror.

A real DUVAL brass windshield was installed. and the aged patina it has is pure perfection!

Chrome exhaust tips peak out the back of the car and look great as they let the sound of the custom fabricated exhaust with performance mufflers rumble through.

The vintage hood ornament is perfect for the car. and is in great condition too.

The DOWNS body did not come with a top. but the builder elected to fabricate one himself. and it is amazing! He custom fabricated a frame. devised a pin and bolt mounting system that works like a dream and only has two screws to undo. and then covered the entire thing in a water-resistant vinyl that looks like an old convertible top from the 30’s! It looks great. doesn’t ripple when driving. and can removed in minutes by ONE PERSON because it hardly weighs anything at all!

With the top up or down. the car cuts a striking line going down the road. and has just the right stance. angle. and ride height.

A real DAN FINK grill was installed up front. and it looks fantastic on this car.

Wheel Vintique’s was tapped to supply a set of the stunning wire wheels it makes for modern rods. and they look PERFECT on this car. They are sized 15” up front. and 17” in the rear. with chrome center caps and almost new tires at all four corners.

The Browning machine gun mounted on the back of the deck can be easily removed or installed. and even has a pin hole should you wish to secure it for long-distance travel. It is a wooden replica gun that the prior owner purchased from a WWII Movie set. Cruising down the beach strip one Sunday. my wife and I must have had 50 people pretending to duck for cover. or make the imaginary finger gun to aim at us. all with HUGE smiles on!

Overall. the outside of the car is a killer tribute to those that fought for us in WWII. and any other war we have been in for that matter!

People in the service LOVE this car. and every one of them wants a picture taken by it. or in it! It was a huge hit at the Memorial Day Parade. and later on at the VFW. it must have had 150 pictures taken of it throughout the day!

Inside the car. things just get even neater. when you realize you and your passenger will be sitting in REAL aircraft jump seats!!! More comfy than you can imagine. these seats provide a perfect place to control this machine from. and have ample room for almost any sized driver and passenger. We had a gentleman who was 6’4” get in the car with the roof on. and he had PLENTY of head and leg room! This car can fit almost anyone. which is nice if you are tired of cramped little rods.

The dash is a cut and fitted piece of stainless steel that is mounted with screws made to look aged and worn.

An array of REAL vintage aircraft gauges is installed alongside new automotive gauges and the whole thing is made to look like an airplane cockpit! There is even an oxygen level gauge. and the aircraft cylinder head temp gauge is actually hooked up along with a normal one!

Below the gauges is a set of aircraft grade flip-switches for the lights and electric fan. and they look and perform great. with a warning light to remind you they are on.

The GM tilt steering column is topped with a three spoke aged aluminum steering wheel. but someone stole the dang center cap that said V8 on it at a show. I am trying to get another for it now.

The large tachometer is mounted on the column. and is fully functional as well.

Door panels are treated to Service related insignia on each side. and the doors open and close with ease on each side with a flip of the latch.

The rear panel looks like it was riveted into place. and holds the bomber seat backrests. along with a mounted vintage aircraft oil can. additional insignia. and misc. badging and pins.

The floor is covered in EZ-Clean heavy rubber padding that looks like it belongs in a plane. and the custom made transmission tunnel is smoothly cut and installed to the firewall panel and topped with a LOKAR shifter that has been customized with a hand grenade topper! Simply push it down to select a gear. but DON’T LOSE THAT PIN! (Don’t worry. all three of the grenades. the ammo belt. and the mortar in the car are movie props. and NOT real. )

Also included are a variety of other cool display items including a vintage WWII Field Phone. AMMO tin. belt of display rounds. a canteen with cover. Army belt. and even a mortar round!

People have actually asked if they could donate or leave things with the car. and that is where the patches and pin in it have come from. I am sure they will ask you too. People seem really touched by this machine. and everyone from Vet’s to active Service personnel just LOVE it!

Open the trunk. and the fuel tank is attached with aircraft style strapping and clamps. along with some porcelain signs which are affixed to it. A battery box is next to it on the passenger side. and a first aid kit is included with the car as well as the trunk prop stick. The trunk is lockable as well.

Open up the hood. and all of the sudden things stop looking old and vintage. and start looking new again!

The 383ci motor in the car was completely stripped and rebuilt from the block out before being dressed with some appearance pleasing goodies and all the requisite performance bits.

It stays as cool as Fonzi when cruising thanks to a HUGE Griffin radiator. large fan. and hi-flow water pump. I have not seen the car creep over 195 since I have owned it. and I spent an hour and fifteen minutes going 2mph in a beach parade when it was 94 degrees out just this month!!!

The engine starts easily. idles cleanly. and was built for driving. not racing. so it doesn’t have a radical cam or anything that needs constant adjustment or tending to. This car is PERFECT for someone who is NOT a mechanic. but wants a great car to drive and enjoy once in a while.

The transmission was rebuilt alongside the motor. and is a Turbo 400 GM transmission with a reverse manual valve body. mild shift kit. and 2500 stall converter. It shifts super smooth and clean. and lets this car do all those hooligan burnouts if that is your thing. TRUST ME. this car gets more than enough attention without having to squeal tire. but it that is your thing. it has you covered.

The chassis itself is a DOWNS INDUSTRIES fabricated unit. and it is equipped with a HEIDT’S IFS system up front consisting of stainless steel tubular A-arms with coil overs. and a CURRIE ENTERPRISES Ford 9” satin finished rear end with a 3. 55 posi and coil overs out back.

Four wheel disc brakes with polished calipers stop the car on a dime and leave you nine cents change (not really. but they work GREAT). and all of the brake and fuel lines are performance grade throughout the car.

The car runs. drives. and rides wonderfully. Snick it into gear. hit the gas. and it rolls down the road like nobody’s business!

Handling is solid and sure. and it tracks great when cruising the freeway to the next car show.

This car is a great driving machine. and you will have a blast just taking it down the street for gas. because everyone will make you feel like the center of attention. Let’s face it. isn’t that what you go cruising for in the first place!?!

This is NOT a rat rod. This is NOT some thrown together backyard build. This is NOT some two-day Garage Monkeys build that is held together with bubble-gum. bandages. and a prayer. This is a master builder and fabricators attempt at creating a car as a tribute to those men and women who protect our Country at all costs. past and present.

You can fly in and drive this thing home anywhere in the lower 48. and I bet it does just fine. It is a driver. and I have put an estimated 150 miles on it myself. because it is just a magnet for attention. and I get to meet a lot of potential clients with it.

There are NO known mechanical. operational. functional. electrical. or operational issues that I am aware of after driving it those 500 odd miles. It is ready to roll.
