This Mustang is the best 66 Shelby 350 GT Hertz  honorarium that there is on the market. If you seek quality this is it. In fact. perhaps nicer that the few of those 350 Hertz cars on the market today made by Carroll actually in 1966. Ironically an "unnamed" inspecting Shelby expert had to be convinced this car was not one of those 350 H's made in 66. to his embarrassment.

This is about a $70k to $80k rotisserie restore. A Carroll touched and constructed 1966 350H is $150k and has nothing different in major parts or pieces. There was no magic special 350GT H assembly line pumping them out in Dearborn. Both were made by Ford in 1966. panel for panel. Carroll took the cars and added a package of goodies for the renting public. who then rented them from Hertz and abused the living crap out of each and every one of them. Some on the market today think they have the correct motor (really? maybe). but many were rented and even the motors swapped back in the day. Which is why the new ones have "tag wires". That weekend motor swap was not a one time thing in 1966 as you can see.

1966 Ford Mustang Fast Back GT 350 Shelby Hertz Rent-A-Racer built as an honorarium:

Raven Black exterior paint that is unmistakably a high quality fit and mirror finish.
Exterior body panels are extremely straight. orig. rear quarters. rust free doors and front fenders. solid orig. floor pans and uni-structure.

Mallory unilite dist. . factory style HiPo exhaust manifolds. new engine bay wire harness. new radiator. Looking on the underside. this car is as solid as a rock.   Factory spot welds in the floor. orig. upper and lower ball joints are still on the car.   Front end is tight.
Reconditioned piston calipers with dual master cylinder front manual disc brake for improved braking.   The real Shelby Hertz cars had a terrible brake system with a single master cylinder that required extreme pressure to stop the car with a CAUTION decal on the the dash.
Impressive undercarriage of this car. it has a new gas tank and sending unit. brake and fuel lines. e-brake system is in working condition.   Back up lights work. the uni-structure is original and has no signs of any rust or repair.   Solid rockers. with factory spot welds.   Light factory under coating in some areas of the undercarriage.
New OEM exhaust as mentioned.
New brakes. brake hardware
New KYB shocks .
Extensive under carriage detailing. so the photos you see are before shots.   This is a high quality professionally restored car right down to the Shelby blank vin tag plate on the left of the fender apron you can choose to install.
I have below named a few items that are adding more
value that could or should be done.   So no surprises. Cost is minimal.

No restoration no mater how expensive is perfect but the quality of the paint and finish (black!) are as near to a ten as can be.

This is my disclosure. If I have missed anything it is not to be construed as misrepresentation but brain fade. You know I am picky when this small finite points below are it. Here are the minor adds that prevent the car from being the ultimate.

For the most detailed oriented consumer-Minor adds:

1-Pair of Clear Door Lock Grommets for 1965-1969 Mustangs. When it's time to add new door lock knobs to your Mustang. make sure you add new grommets for a clean. finished look. This clear grommet is the trim ring that fits around the door lock knob. The pair will fit driver and passenger side. $2. 99

CJ's Part Number: HW246

$2. 99

2-Hook up the brand new made-for-Shelby Mustang. mounted dash tach. Installed but not wired.

3-Dash pad has crack by speaker

$90. for inexpensive slide-on padded dash cover

or

Scott Drake Original Ford Tooling Dash Pads

Dash Pad. Original Ford Tooling. Vinyl. nbsp; Ford. Each $156. 97

Part Number: SDK-666504290NL

4-Disc pad brake pedal(was originally 4 spd. drum brake Mustang. so small factory "disc brake" emblem is not on the pedal if we are being 100% accurate when the correct Shelby Disc Brakes System installed). Replacement brake pedal pad.

Mustang Brake Pedal Pad Disc Manual 1965 1966 289 Shelby GT With Top Loader
$28. 00

$28

5-Rear trunk cover mat. Trunk restoration is fresh as well. It could use the factory trunk mat for high end detail.   This below is the nicer version.

45456R   HEAVY WEIGHT MOLDED TRUNK MAT. 1965-68 Plaid   62. 95

$62. 95 for a factory spec molded trunk mat.

6-Interior courtesy light bulbs out (now I am being very picky). They maybe are  just not connected when the new interior was installed. Or 48 year old interior light bulbs could need replacing.

Light Bulb. 1964 - 73 Mustang (Interior) Scott Drake 1893 - SD

Price:  $1. 36 X 2?

Lastly. I have not checked into the factory AM Radio nor factory 8 track system for full condition. I cannot attest to it working superbly.

Above I have done my best to accurately describe any items that I would seek to address.

DONE!

A super nice honorarium of the Hertz 350H. Perhaps the best in the market of any 1966 350H*.
