The Dolomite development story is a complicated one. Triumph designed the body-shell in the mid-sixties for the front wheel drive Triumph 1300 that was to replace the Herald. The 1300 was well specified but expensive to build and although it picked up a willing clientele. they were not traditional Herald customers. Triumphs answer was to redesign the 1300. reverting to less expensive rear wheel drive and in doing so created the Toledo. The Toldeo sold well and the 1300 was face-lifted and became the 1500. There was also a “TC” version but the range was still lacking true sporting models to fill the shoes of the Vitesse. In 1964. Triumph had designed the “slant four” engine for Saab but they also had plans for it in their own saloon cars and in the late ‘60s the 1854cc engine was tried out in a 1500 body. The result was a true 100mph compact saloon capable of competing with BMW. The Dolomite should have been launched in 1970 but due to strikes it only hit the showrooms in late 1971. It was an instant success and a popular choice for faithful Triumph buyers.

This car is a 1974 Triumph Dolomite 1850 in its original colour of Carmine Red. It has covered a correct 16. 00 miles from new. This is a cross over model. (probably 1975 model year) with the later style instruments but retaining the model designation “Dolomite” rather than “1850 HL” as the cars became a year or so later.

The condition is excellent – A1 in most departments. It looks to have had a good quality re-paint at some stage but otherwise it is original except for “Sprint” alloy wheels. It also runs and drives beautifully as you would expect and the underside. like the upper body is near perfect. It comes with its original handbook. various old MOT's “passport to service” and a letter from the second owner confirming the mileage.

Rare. in beautiful condition and great value. Long MOT and 5 months tax. Will be tax exempt from April 2015. Viewing near Woburn. Beds.

Hi there, I hope you are well!

My name’s Natalie and I’m helping to produce a short film, Slave To The Page https://www.facebook.com/sttpfilm/, and am looking to get a hold of a Triumph Dolomite as the majority of the film is set inside a classic car like yours. Apart from a few opening shots, the car will be static throughout the film.

Would you be interested in having your vehicle featured in the film? As well as helping my team make the film, we’d be very happy to promote the car and credit yourself/company in the end credits.

The film will premiere in both local and international festivals and has the potential to receive industry recognition; the crew is comprised of a really talented and diverse mix of young people who have already worked on films like 1917, Star Wars, and Fast and Furious.

We’re working to a very limited budget so we don't have a large number of funds for the car rental, however please give me a price and we will try our best to make it work.

We are based in London and, all being well with COVID-19, are aiming to shoot over a single weekend in early September. We’re taking health and safety very seriously.

Please let me know what you think - I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
Natalie Hall
