Very occasionally we take in a car with a unique and rather special history. This is such a car. While the late Harry Saltzman was busy producing his latest James Bond blockbuster ‘On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. Rolls Royce Motors were building a new Phantom VI. for the company he co-owned with Albert R Broccoli - Eon Productions Ltd. The correspondence file is very interesting and includes letters to Rolls Royce indicating his displeasure regarding delays in its production. There are also references to his previous Phantom V which appears to have been sold to the late Michael Winner.

Harry Saltzman produced some of the most memorable films of the 1960s and 1970s including ‘Saturday Night and Sunday Morning'. nbsp; ‘The Ipcress File' and ‘Battle of Britain' in addition to no less than nine of the James Bond Films. from ‘Dr No' to ‘Live and let die'

This is a wonderful piece of automotive history once owned by one of the world's most successful movie producers.

An excellent DVD of how Saltzman. Broccoli and Fleming brought James Bond to the Cinema screen is available from Eon's website 007. com. the link is http://www. 007. com/everything-or-nothing-on-dvd/

This beautifully presented Phantom VI was collected in Lancashire and performed faultlessly over the 100 mile journey here. The Rolls Royce records a mileage of 29. 00 and from the vehicle history file and further research carried out by ourselves we believe this to be genuine.   We can confirm from Rolls Royce paperwork that this Phantom had covered 7. 78 miles by 1971. We don't have history from 1971 to 1981. but in 1982 we know the Rolls Royce sold to a Company in Travistock. Devon who purchased the Phantom VI with low mileage and in excellent condition. The Rolls Royce stayed with the same Company until 2003. Between 1971 and 2003 the Rolls Royce was very occasionally used and covered very little mileage within this period.  The Phantom VI changed hands in 2003 but stayed in Devon until 2008 before selling to the last owner in Lancashire. MOT records show the car has covered just 5000 miles since 1995 and the car drives incredibly well as one would expect with a low mileage vehicle of this type.

Our Phantom VI is in strong mechanical condition with a superb. quiet 6230cc engine holding excellent oil pressure. The gearbox changes up and down smoothly and the Rolls Royce handles and brakes correctly. The Rolls Royce has power assisted steering so is light. comfortable and a pleasure to drive.  The tyres are all in very good condition and whilst the car has had little use in recent years. it would appear to have been regularly and very well maintained. The electrics all work including the division glass and the Rolls Royce will be supplied with a full 12 months MOT. service and function check.

The Rolls Royce presents superbly with an exceptional original body with stunning Regency Red over Chalice Silver paintwork. The paint finish is first class; the bodywork is stunning with beautiful straight panels and the chrome work bright and of a very good standard. The upholstery has beautifully aged and is very original. The dashboard and dials are excellent. the driver's seat does have wear and an issue with wear on the driver's seat was reported to Rolls Royce when the car had covered just a few thousand miles. The front carpets still have as new HJM. PW heel mats and the rest of the seats are in excellent original condition. The rear of the car is stunning with wonderful woodwork. fully functioning cabinet with champagne. glass and decanters present and carpets. door cards and headlining are in excellent order. The engine bay and boot area are clean. original and present well.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase a stunning Rolls Royce Phantom VI with true provenance and history.

Please note the registration mark displayed is not with the car.
