This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a very rare and interesting car. It is an ideal collector's car and also something that can be used. enjoyed and taken to shows with very little work.

The Simca 5 was designed by Fiat engineers at Turin and produced and sold in France by Simca. It was almost identical to the Fiat 500 Topolino on which it was based. The Simca was first presented three months ahead of the Fiat equivalent on the 10th March 1936 but production was delayed due to a wave of strikes across France. We have listed the car as a Fiat through the EBay template as there is no listing for Simca.

This rare Simca has come to us from a regular customer in Gloucestershire who has kept the car dry stored in a barn for almost twenty years. The last owner. a classic car collector with some wonderful vehicles took the Simca from a Dutch trader when selling his Bugatti back in the 1990's. The Simca has not been on the road in the UK and requires re-commissioning. Since arriving with us. we have fitted a new battery and the car does start and runs nicely.

It is clear that prior to long term storage. the Simca was fully rebuilt from the chassis up. When inspecting the Simca underneath. we can see new packings between the body and chassis fitted during re-assembly. Everything we can see underneath the car from the replacement hoses to clips and mounting seem to indicate a full ground up rebuild. The underneath is in exceptional condition and clearly indicates the car has had little or no use since rebuild.


The cars principal issue is solvent migration and micro-blistering which relates not to the way the car was restored but to the preperation materials being used at the time. In various areas on the paintwork there is evidence of micro-blistering but the paintwork still does present well with a nice deep shine. The bodywork is in excellent condition with superb. straight panels. The interior is lovely and has delightfully aged. Ideally chrome hub caps require replacement or re-chroming but on the whole the car has a very smart apperance. The engine is clean and tidy and the inner wings are in excellent order.

We have set a very sensible reserve for that car as it is. requiring light re-commissioning. We are happy to discuss preparing the car for a full MOT and carrying out the re-commissioning work here. however a price for this work will need to be agreed with us above the selling price.
