The Willys CJ (later Jeep CJ) or 'Civilian Jeep' is a public
version of the famous Willys Military Jeep from World War II. The
first CJ prototype (the Willys CJ-2) was introduced in 1944 by
Willys. and the same basic vehicle stayed in production through
seven variants and three corporate parents until 1986. The Jeep
CJ-7 featured a wheelbase 10 inches longer than that of the CJ-5
and lacked its trademark rear curve of the door cut-outs. The other
main difference to the CJ-5 was to the chassis which hitherto
consisted of two parallel longitudinal main c-section rails. To
help improve vehicle handling and stability. the rear section of
the chassis stepped out to allow the road springs and dampers to be
mounted closer to the outside of the body. The CJ-7 featured an
optional new automatic all-wheel drive system called Quadra-Trac. br/>as well as a part-time two-speed transfer case; an automatic
transmission was also an option. Other features included an
optional moulded hardtop. and steel doors.

This 1982 CJ7 has been the subject to a complete ground up
restoration which was started in 2012 and has cost over £35. 00.
The Jeep has been stripped down to the chassis and totally rebuilt. br/>the engine has been replaced with a Chevrolet 5. 9 litre V8 which
has been built to use unleaded fuel with a Holley carburettor. br/>through an Edelbrock inlet manifold. In the last few months further
modifications have been carried out including fitting a four inch
lift kit. raising the car a further four inches. New wheels and
tyres have also been fitted. Bull bars and a Rugged Ridge power
winch which has 8. 00lbs of torque. enough to pull it out of any
situation. This 1982 Jeep CJ7 is supplied with a V5C registration
document. an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2015
and a photographic record of the restoration. This is an
opportunity to purchase a properly sorted Jeep. ready for fun in
the summer.
