The Jaguar E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public
as a grand tourer in two-seater coupé form and as a convertible
roadster. The 2+2 version with a lengthened wheelbase was released
several years later. On its release. Enzo Ferrari called the
Jaguar E-Type "The most beautiful car ever made". The Museum
of Modern Art recognized the significance of the Jaguar E-Type's
design in 1996 by adding a blue roadster to its permanent design
collection. one of only two automobiles to receive the distinction.
Open headlights without glass covers. a wrap-around rear bumper. br/>re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the
bumpers. better cooling aided by an enlarged 'mouth' and twin
electric fans together with uprated brakes are all hallmarks of
Series II cars. The engine is easily identified visually by the
change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial
'ribbed' appearance. The interior and dashboard were also
re-designed with rocker switches being substituted for toggle
switches. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical
layout. New seats were fitted which. purists claim. lacked the
style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable and air
conditioning and power steering were available as factory
options.

This 4. 2 litre. Series II lefthand drive roadster. was
manufactured on 29th June 1970 and dispatched to the Jaguar dealer
in New York as confirmed by the Heritage certificate. Prior to
repatriation to the UK. a letter was obtained from a public notary
in the U. S. confirming the mileage of 10. 89. Arriving in excellent
condition. the fastidious vendor set about making this example one
of the very best available. After inspecting and driving the
roadster. we can confirm this is certainly an E-Type of the highest
order. The Primrose yellow coachwork is unmarked as is the black
interior. The underside of MRD 953J is as spotless as the rest of
the car indeed it is difficult to find fault in this magnificent
example. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a full years'
MoT test certificate. any inspection will confirm the quality of
this stunning Jaguar.
