Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. the Jaguar E-Type was
nothing short of a revelation. With its heady blend of supercar
performance. breathtaking styling and low price tag. the newcomer
left rivals reeling and customers clamouring. Early sportscar
racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori
amongst others helped cement its reputation. Built as a monocoque
with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine. the model's
combination of all-round independent suspension. rack and pinion
steering and four-wheel disc brakes gave it excellent road holding
and handling capabilities. Fed by triple SU HD8 carburettors and
topped with a 'straight port' DOHC cylinder head. its indomitable
3781cc. straight-six engine was quoted as developing some 265bhp
and 260lbft of torque. Allied to a four-speed Moss gearbox. it
reputedly enabled the E-type to sprint from 0-60mph in 6. 9 seconds
and onto 150mph. Aesthetically beautiful yet viciously quick. the
E-type remains for many the ultimate production Jaguar.

Supplied originally to Mr. George Beronius. he enjoyed the car
so much he kept it for 23 years. always having it maintained by the
supplying dealer. Prior to his selling of the car. she received a
full engine rebuild. 'Hooked on Classics' the owner refurbished GFX
78D in 1989. taking care of the coachwork. brightwork and interior
trim. The car also had a brake overhaul. new clutch. steering rack
and radiator. It was sold to its second owner in 1992 who kept the
Jaguar for five years. The third owner. whose name is on the V5
registration document has enjoyed her for 16 years and clearly
loved and cherished her as much as the two previous keepers.
Finished in opalescent blue with blue trim. this is a splendid
looking Series I E-type. Supplied with a V5 and a history file
second to none. this Jaguar is sure to attract interest. there
cannot be many 48 year old cars that look as good as this and have
only had three owners from new.
