From the 1950s. Mercedes Benz gradually began to build a lead in the quality. safety and luxury of saloon car design in Europe. By the 1970s. their rivals were struggling to match the pace the Stuttgart company were setting and by the 1980s they were the unquestioned market leaders.

The W126 Series Mercedes Benz was developed as a saloon. an estate and a coupe that would once more set new standards in performance. comfort and safety. Introduced in 1979. throughout its life it continued to lead the way; the first car to have Airbags as standard. along with Traction Control. ABS and Seatbelt Pretensioners.

First registered on 6th June 1988. this 420 SEC is a 4 owner from new example of the mid-range S Class Coupe. Referred to by many as the ‘Euro Spec' model. the 4. 2 Litre V8 offered better performance than the 6 Cylinder engine models which avoiding the excessive thirst of the beefy 5 and 5. 5 Litre examples. Between 1988 and 2000 it was owned by a gentleman who shipped the 420 SEC to Cypress. using the car on his occasional visits to the country.

Finished in Black with Magnolia Leather interior. the total mileage is around 55. 00. The odometer was changed at 24. 65 miles. with a current reading of 30. 43. All this is. of course. clearly detailed in the paperwork that accompanies the car. On that subject. the original Mercedes Benz Maintenance Booklet is stamped up until 2006. since when specialists have been in charge of maintenance.
