1966 Chrysler 300C Saloon

Before I go into detail about this gorgeous car. let me first give you a brief overview of 1966 and what was happening across the world at that time.

Headlines. nbsp;

Sport - England wins the world cup for first time since 1930. even today there is speculation about the deciding goal but history will dictate this as one of football's finest moments.  

Films & TV – Batman entered our TV screens. whilst the Cline Eastwood rocked the cinemas with the Good. The Bad & The Ugly. not to mention Rachuel Welch in One Million Years BC.

Politics – France pulls its forces out of NATO and De Gaulle makes a visit to the USSR.   In the United States. LBJ continues to increase military personnel in Vietnam. without any idea that the war would rage for another 7 years.

Music – Flower Power grew through California. whilst the Beatles were Feeling Fine. even though America had launched their own fab four. The Monkees!!

So. now onto the car.

This is a low mileage well cared for and stunning 300C. which originally came from Las Vegas.   There is a large history file showing when the car arrived in the UK. a copy of the American owners title. shipping information and a whole host of MOT's. invoices and some very interesting information relating to a big criminal court case in Las Vegas but I'm trying to find out the link to this car. If somebody knows. please tell me.   Finished in a pale green. which sometimes looks gold in the sun and a fabulous black interior. this car can only be described as amazing.   Mileage stands at just over 30. 00 which considering the history and condition. can only be accurate as far as I'm concerned.   The following however is in my view an honest description on this old girl. including some of the minor tweaks needed to make her perfect.

Bodywork

This is certainly very straight and honest with no evidence of repairs or welding. Paintwork is lovely but there are a few very minor chips scratches here and there but I'm being very fussy.   She does actually look better in the flesh than the photos so hopefully this is a clear indication of how good the bodywork is.   One fault I've come across is that the o/s/r door won't open at all so I'm expecting this to be a minor issue. which I'm going to address. Apart from that all is fine. with exception to some wear in the door seals. as you would expect after almost 48 years.

Interior

Very original and in lovely condition. perfect headliner and interior chrome. Nice black carpets and door cards which look like new. Dials and clocks work fine but the fuel gauge appears to be faulty. Apart from this. all is as it should be.

Mechanical

The sound from under the hood is better than any stereo and the V8 rumbles superbly through its twin exhaust systems. The Carburetor is an Edlebrock which looks too new to be factory but I'm sure adds to the cars smooth running and prompt performance.   Suspension is soft as you would expect from a 60's yank and the brakes are very good.

Summary. this 66 Mopar is amazing and she drives superb with good performance. There is loads of history. a new MOT and apart from some very minor tweaks. it's a jump in and drive anyway kind of girl with no rot. unlike me !
