Ford Consul / Granada MK1 Sweeney replica for sale
Current customer rating: (583 votes ) based onThe only thing that lets this down is the paintwork. I respayed this with the help of a neighbour in my garage and I discovered i'm not a car sprayer. yes it looks good from a distance but there are some areas where the paint has reacted with something although I sprayed the whole car with a sealer first. then about 3 lots of primer. 3 or 4 basecote and then lacquer. It needs mopping and polishing again but does need certain areas redoing to make it perfect.
Also if I was keeping the car I would put lower springs on the front as it seems too high with the standard 3. 0 ones I put on.
The engine starts first time. I fitted a new uprated Bosch fuel pump as well but was only intending to start the car on petrol and then switch to gas as the MK3 used to run well on it and its cheaper. This isn't an immaculate car but its solid and looks the part. I think I have probably done about 100 miles in it in 2 years if that and today was the first time it has moved since the MOT last September. The car now needs a new enthusiastic owner to finish all the little bits off and enjoy it as I have too many projects and another Consul keeping me busy at the moment. The car also has a stainless exhaust with a sports back box which makes it a bit loud and this was something I was thinking of changing. Also the radio works as badly as it did in 1972 on MW with the dash front speaker (which I replaced) but there is a remote CD player in the glove box wired up and 2 speakers in the footwells (original kickplated around somewhere) and 2 under the seats as I didn't was to make any holes. I did fit rear belts though so the kids could come to shows. I also fitted a central locking kit.
I have probably missed some bits I have done but if you have any questions just ask.
