FORMULA JUNIOR ( Formula Japan) 1600 Race Car
Japanese Formula Ford equivalent. Development formula similar to Formula Ford using a Subaru 1600 flat 4 EA 71 motor. which should be easy and inexpensive to maintain. The Formula produced many racing drivers. but I only know Ukyo Katayama and Hedeki Noda. both ex Formula 1 pilots.  The cars are still an active formula in Japan so parts are available. but you may need Google translate! Whilst there is an amount of surface oxidation and light rust to some parts all wishbones and chassis are straight and functional. there is slight damage to the gelcoat in one are near the carbs . but would be repaired with an ounce of filler. The chassis is very strong. (much more than my ex 750F). The engine runs up fine and on twin carbs would produce the claimed 220kmph. Ideal for classic formula (1980's presumed manufacture). hillclimbs or sprints. or even track day F1 type fun. and on a small budget. My plan exactly.  Redundancy forces much regretted sale. My plan was to fit a battery. in date harness and extinguisher. and run track days till I felt like graduating to hillclimbs. then onto 750 motor club track racing. Then over the winter strip it back to bare metal and powder coat back to its original condition. and respray in new racing colours. This is a bespoke racer with a strong chassis. interesting bodywork. and very expensive suspension and racing lightweight wheels. plus a pucker FUEL CELL. and rare rear engine shrouds. and California racing mirrors. all mated to a powerful and inexpensive motor. makes it a great entry into motorsport. or for a purist to restore to original. your choice. An added bonus is that it has a reverse gear to help manoeuvring in the paddock. or getting out of the kitty litter. ouch.
