LOTUS ESPRIT S3 1982 N/A

This is a cracking car to drive and with all Lotus she sits on the road like the proverbial go cart. the Black leather replacement seats keep you hugged in nice and tight and of course the smile factor just fills the rear view mirror.

The following description may make her sound as if she has been a problem car. well that she is not. I wanted to carryout all the listed work to make her better than she was. more reliable. a better drive and increase the fun facture and that has been done.

This is a car that will need nothing major for years to come as everything has been done.

The engine is good for how many thousand miles without having to be touched. look after it and it will do another thirty odd years.

So now it's all done and time to move on.

I will be sad to see her go as she is a great drive and just gives smiles over the miles but time to move on to another Lotus of course.

Work completed in the last 20 months.  

Front discs and pads replaced.

New steering column lower UJ joint.

Reconditioned radiator.

Replacement original S3 esprit spare wheel with new tyre.

New anti roll bar bushes.

New oil cooler and hoses.

New Clutch plate. pressure plate. thrust bearing and up rated spigot bearing.

All engine crankcase oil seals and gaskets replaced.

New timing belt.

New auto timing belt tensioner with new bearing.

New water pump.

New reverse light switch fitted.

Rebuilt carbs.

All new Misab plates and anti vibration bushes on the carbs.

New Magnicor ignition leads. plugs and cap.

New slide pins on rear brake callipers.

New high output coil.

New lumination electronic ignition module.

New distributor ignition infra red picks up and chopper.

All new gear linkage bushes.

All new engine mountings

Replacement rear brake discs and pads.

All new fuel lines and in line filter.

New Fawcet fuel pump.

Refurbished starter motor.

Repainted cam box covers.

New cam box gaskets.

New Ramair air induction kit.

New oil cooler.

New crankcase breather filters from Sparco.

Modified up rated cross gate gear change rod.

New Stainless Steel four branch manifold. and stainless steel studs.

New exhaust manifold gaskets.

Replacement Stainless Steel exhaust to suit the new manifold.

Replacement comfort seats from a newer model. S4.

New slide pins on rear brake calipers

New door mounted speakers.

Replacement tailgate gas struts. (MK2 VW Golf. perfect fit)

Replacement temperature switch and otter switch so fans come on and off properly.

Improvements to be made.

Driver's window no longer operates properly; I have a replacement motor.

Speedo currently not work properly.

Works completed prior to my purchase.  

Complete body strip and re-spray. the car comes with a load of photographs showing the professional paint job which was done to a very high standard with no obvious over spray anywhere.

Complete gearbox overhaul. nbsp;Invoice available.  

The S3 is presently fitted with a rebuilt 2. 2 engine which has only covered 16 thousand miles (invoice to prove) after a complete overhaul which included pistons. liners. rings. shells and main bearings etc.

Prior to fitting this engine I had all the gaskets. oil seals etc replaced by Lotus specialists as I wanted no problems. this work alone cost over £500.

The original seats are available and are in good condition. only changed as the newer ones are more comfortable.

To sum up the car will come with the following.

Original Air box and fittings.

Replacement nearside window motor.

Spare set of rear brake discs still within minimum tolerance.

My car was a category D two years ago due to the usual engine bay fire. I retained the salvage from my insurance company and spent a fortune restoring everything to better than she was post fire. As a cat D she did not have to undergo a VIC check only the statutory MOT to be allowed to go back on the road.

She sustained no body damage in the fire. everything was contained to engine damage only.

Considering all the work that has go into restoring the Esprit she is being sold at a realistic price and not over inflated as some tend to be. I could probably make more breaking her at today's parts prices but thats not going to happen.

A £100. 00 none returnable deposit will be required via PayPal within 24 hrs to prevent the tossers who waste our time on Ebay. ample opportunity will be given to view the car so no haggling afterwards.

Payment cash on collection or bank transfer within 2 days of ending as I am due back overseas to work. I can store the car once paid in full untill I return but that will be 5 weeks.
