Porsche 924 Turbo Carrerra GT replica

I have finally decided to let this car go. and for two very genuine reasons. Number one is that old adage time. When I purchased the car from the guy that did most of the restoration and conversion work I was firmly committed to working myself up to a race licence and starting out on the Classic Sports Car Circuit in the Future Classics series. This series is hotly contested in the 924/944 department; and for obvious reasons. The balance of these cars on the track is superb and they can take it. even in near enough road trim. However a business venture that involved opening a retail outlet effectively reduced free time to. well who needs free time anyway! Number two is that we have had to move our business storage unit where I pinch some space to a smaller one and really there is no room for it. I don't want to put it outside.

In my possession the car has had a couple of outings on Snetterton on track days and about 800 miles on the road and a lot of time under a dustsheet.  On the last run out she ran hotter than was healthy. the head was taken off and a small amount of pitting was causing the head gasket to let by. I have photos of the work that was done.  As the intention was to continue with the track based stuff and on advice from a guy who has been racing these for years we went for a Cometic copper head gasket and ARP race head bolts. along with a light skim there are now some serious clamping forces at work. No real running has been done since this work so if you end up purchasing the car it will need treating a bit gently to start with.

There is a massive history file with the car and I once toted up the spend and it's over 19k and there aren't receipts for everything that has been done!

The last major cost was a full engine build in 2010 by Hendon Motors Porsche specialists at £5619 and turbo rebuild at £455. 00.

The car is rust free and is in very good order bodywise. it was a bare shell rebuild by the look of it.

I am going to list the spec working front to back and hope I don't miss anything:

944 S2 Turbo steel wings

Carrerra conversion fixed lights

Turbo race spec lightweight bonnet

924 Turbo series one engine. Garret turbo charger running standard boost. Samco hoses. silicone vacuum pipes. new coil. original distributor (recently rebuild by a specialist company. these are expensive and rare) external battery isolator.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Tyres

Fuchs Porsche alloys

Striped out interior (no soundproofing) Lightweight black carpet

2 x FIA four point harness

2 x OMP race seats and brackets

Full safety devices roll cage

Rear helmet cargo nets

Lightweight race door mirrors

Lightweight door panels

Lexan sliding Perspex race windows

Removable steering wheel

5 speed dog leg gear box. plus spare box and clutch

Carrerra GT rear arches

Custom (adjustable) rear spoiler

Probably lot of other bits too.

I am looking for 5k for this car or a swap/part ex for a nice road car that I can get into (easily) and drive to Hunstanton on the rare day that the sun shines and I have a day off (who said I was a grumpy old pessimistic man).

As the car is on a classified ad I am expecting people to come and view as it's a specialist car. However please consider my reason for selling and my limited time. Of course I will accept reasonable offers for it but I am sure most sensible people will know where we need to be on price. Anyone who wants to export the car to a far flung place no worries. Pay for it and it can go anywhere you want it to.

As said I am looking for a trade and cash either way if you have a road going car that I may like. Xkr xk8 350z etc

note that test drives are limited to our yard as this car is sorned.

Hello,

Would you be interested in a swap for a 2008 (57) XJ X358 3.0 petrol V6?

The car has done 147k, but it has just had a 55k engine put in by a Jaguar specialist.

Warmly,
Tom
