1969 MGC Roadster LHD

This is a very nice Left Hand Drive MGC Roadster finished in Red with Black interior. It is nicely restored and ready for the summer.

The MGC was a version of the MGB fitted with a 2912cc straight six engine. Manufactured between 1967 and August 1969. the car was intended as a replacement for the Austin Healey 3000. The engines produced 145bhp and were fitted with twin SU carburettors. The body shell was revised around the engine bay and to the floor pan but externally the only differences between the MGB and the MGC were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a teardrop to allow clearances for the carburettors.

Here we have this very smart and straight MGC that was manufactured in 1969 and originally supplied to the USA. Repatriated back into the UK in April 2012 and UK registered in June 2012; this MGC has undergone a restoration to bring it to its current condition. Structurally. the MG was found to be in very good order with excellent panel shut lines; however. the car was stripped back to bare metal to enable correct assessment of its condition. Minor corrosion was found on the sills and front floor sections. so for peace of mind the decision was taken to fully replace the outer. inner and castle sections of the sills. front floor sections. inner steps and strengtheners to the sills using only 'Heritage' panels. The original aluminium bonnet was found to be in excellent condition.

Mechanically. the engine was found to be in very good order with no rattles or knocks and displaying excellent oil pressure. New items included a stainless steel exhaust. fuel tank. electronic fuel pump and copper lines with the brakes also being overhauled with new wheel cylinders. callipers. brake pads. flexible hoses. master cylinder. copper brake lines and to complete. an overhauled correct Mk IIb brake servo was fitted. A new clutch master cylinder. slave cylinder. hose and copper line are also included.

The interior was refreshed with new leather seats. side trim panels. door cards and a high quality moulded carpet set fitted. To complete. the coachwork has been refinished in MG Tartan Red with new weather strips to the doors and side mouldings and complemented by a new set of chrome wire wheels shod with fresh Firestone tyres. A new Mohair soft top has also recently been fitted and the car has just benefitted from a top engine rebuild. A history file supports the works with a photographic record of the restoration. Importantly. this MGC is UK registered with all import duties having been paid. With a current MoT test certificate valid until September 2014 and with a historic tax disc valid until May 2014. this MG may be appreciated on the road immediately. Left Hand drive makes this car especially interesting for European road trips or to be left at a holiday home on the continent.
